Simon, specifically, are you saying that Smith did not have the gift of finding things for people?
I don't know whether he did or didn't.
I believe he thought he did, however. So, the question must be asked then, if you believed something (like Mormonism isn't true), tried to convince others of that belief, but the belief ultimately turned out wrong, were
you deceiving people?
Once again, so far you are absolutely unclear as to what you consider failure and mistakes (your words) in Smith's behavior.
And what mistakes do you and I make, Simon? Name them. I'm interested whether I have anything in common with you or Smith at all. You see, when we speak of Smith, there are some very sobering assertions concerning his behavior. No one is here because Smith left the water running or ran over a cat.
Running over a cat is a pretty big mistake. You are taking the life of another living being. No one has the right to do that, and I don't think you should trivialize it. Sometimes mistakes are made, though, and we must suffer through the personal torment we cause ourselves.
I am not going to go over the laundry list of mistakes we all make throughout life. I am sure you are well aware of yours.
People are defined by their faults -- they're what make us human.
