The bride is the same age as Joseph's youngest, but Jeffs is a good deal older than Smith was - he's 55 now. Still, the creep factor is about the same.

Hey, that makes me a full tithe payer! Who knew?
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Except...
1 Verily, thus saith the Lord, I require all their surplus property to be put into the hands of the bishop of my church in Zion,
2 For the building of mine house, and for the laying of the foundation of Zion and for the priesthood, and for the debts of the Presidency of my Church.
3 And this shall be the beginning of the tithing of my people.
4 And after that, those who have thus been atithed shall pay one-tenth of all their interest annually; and this shall be a standing law unto them forever, for my holy priesthood, saith the Lord.

Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told, regardless of what is right.

Like Some Schmo, that makes me a full tithe payer, too!

However, I do know of a group that believes in EXACTLY the same revelatory paradigm as the LDS church. They even have their own prophet!
Bingo! I can't wait to see how he deals with this one.

Not to quibble over a couple of years, but wasn't Helen Mar Joseph Smith's youngest at 14, and Jeff's bride here is 12? There is a good deal of development between 12 and 14 (not that I'm saying 14 is old enough to marry by any means, but it has happened often enough throughout history). And it is possible that Joseph Smith didn't consummate with Helen Mar. So to me the creep factor is a bit less.
