I don't know the proportions. I know some who do and some who do not. One who didn't actually said in Sunday School / Relief Society that Jesus felt the pain of everyone, but he never experienced childbirth. As far as I can tell, this woman was TBM.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy. eritis sicut dii I support NCMO

Although, people certainly have found benefit from talking to others who are in similar situations! Most people really want to be heard and validated.
Yeah I can understand this and how people feel comfort from this. The problem is Jesus brings no comfort because he can't talk back to you and help you through your situation.
I guess people say they feel the holy ghost there to comfort them but that's not Jesus. In my mind the holy ghost is your own feelings anyways and it can't be proved that there is this special spirit comforting people.
Although, in my life I have never been through anything crazy so I have never needed this comfort if it does exist.

Simon says he believes LDS doctrine, but that is not doctrine.
Rather than badgering Simon, maybe we could ask Simon to explain what the Alma passage and the quotes from General Authorities actually mean. Just a thought.
It's very clearly doctrine.

haha never thought of that.
Next time a Mormon women says that no man has experienced the pain of child birth I will say to them they are wrong. Jesus has suffered all pain so he knows the pain of billions of child births. Poor guy must have had the worst morning sickness ever!

It's his own fault. He is the one who cursed women to have pain in childbirth...

Then, LDS have the added belief that a lot of people will have to suffer for their own sins and then they will still have to accept the Atonement before they can get into a kingdom of glory. So, human suffer on earth, then suffer in heaven and then accept Jesus' suffering.
All for what? Seems like a terrible, jacked-up Plan to me.
Yeah he doesn't take away the pain and suffering at all. That's why I always found if funny even as an active TBM when I would hear other TBM's say that Jesus helped them through this tough time and took away a lot of the pain.
Are you serious that even if you repent in this life you still have to suffer in the next life? Damn what's the point of Jesus then...

No, if you repent in this life you are all good. I think. It is certain people who will have to suffer for their own sins. People who don't accept Christ, If I recall correctly. But then they have to accept Christ after that anyway to get a kingdom so it is pretty stupid.

Actually, a careful reading of section 132 (v26?) of the D&C would suggest that you just need to get a temple marriage. After that repentance isn't really essential or even necessary to avoid punishment in the next life.

Indeed. Technically every apostate who married in the temple is bound for exaltation.
