This dead horse was flogged, turned into glue, and then the glue was flogged.

The thread was really long, and I admit I only read or scanned through the first 20 or 30 pages of it. Could you just summarize for me?

Silver Hammer breezed in, said in effect "I don't see what the big deal is," and breezed back out.

Oh, I am just completely sick of all mention of Schryver. The only thing I want to see of him in the future is a publication. I don't care to revisit this stuff.

Indeed.

I mean, go ask the MI people. If Mattie is a faithful defender of Mormonism, they should have no problem explaining to her why they did what they did. If they can't or won't, well that just isn't our problem. I for one had no desire for anyone to stop publication on anything Schryver wrote.

One will find that so much about Schryver's doings are much exaggerated in the reporting when compared with the reality--both positive and negative. Schryver excels at generating hot air about Schryver.

I would be fine waiting for there to be something real to talk about. Like him actually publishing something. That is worthy of comment. The rest of this BS is well played out already. And then some.

OK. I get it now.

No, I'm not "Silver Hammer", but I more or less agree that "I don't see what the big deal is." I didn't see anything that amounted to misogyny. In fact, I think it does a disservice to real cases of misogyny. As a woman, it really bothers me when people cry "misogyny" over things like this because I think it desensitizes the public mind to legitimate cases where women are being abused. To me it looks like this had nothing to do with legitimate misogyny and everything to do with anti-Mormonism.

This was much more misogynistic:
Dr. Shades wrote:

Apparently Oaks was originally offered Sherri Dew, but she declined the "calling."

Dark Helmet replied:

Wow. It musr have been hard to decline as I'm sure she was told it was what the lord wants, and it came ftom the brethren. I also heard she prefers carpet to hard wood.

viewtopic.php?p=522571#p522571

The whole premise of that thread was misogynistic. But none of the women participating on it said a word about the attack against Sheri Dew, a woman I admire very, very much.

In a recent thread about sock puppets, one poster said that his favorite sock puppet of all time was "Mica Hunt", a very obvious play on words that is extremely vulgar:

memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=8315

The picture for "Mica Hunt" is of Sheri Dew. "Mica Hunt" has posted lots of posts, but none of the women on the board have ever complained about it. It is hypocritical and I think it does a disservice to women who are really victims of misogyny.

I don't agree with you. Like I said in one my first few posts here, I know Will. I've known him for about four years (I'm in the same ward). The things that have been said here about him do not square with the person I know.

No kidding. His attacks on me used to bother me, but now I couldn't care less. I'm "past feeling," I guess.
