wow, just wow.
We are excommunicating you, and you can't pay tithing, but remember to set aside tithing so you can pay it when you come back. Is this serious? Does it really happen this way?
If you are not a member, and can't pay tithing why and by what logic would they expect "back tithing"?

That is kind of strange. Never heard of anything like that before.

Who cares?
Don't pay tithing.
Don't get rebaptized.
Any church, or Elks' Club, is entitled to draft a set of rules for entrance into membership. Fill out that form; pay that fee; genuflect here.
If you don't like those rules, then blow them off. If I gave you the requirements to be hired by my firm, what pertinence is it to you or anybody else that you don't like those requirements?

Do they usually put that in an excommunication letter? I had no idea. If so, yes, I think it's strange, but they can do as they please. But I reserve the right to comment on it.

Turn away from the noise and distraction of Satan, for he is the one who is placing obstacles between you and the Savior by manipulating truth into lies.

It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.

Yes.
And where did you hear non-members can't pay tithing?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of people that are excommunicated are admitted back into the church. The Church never gives up on people that I know of. As bizarre as it sounds I would expect the minute they throw you out for them to be working to bring you back unless you specifically ask not to be contacted.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Holy cow...I actually agree with grandpa bot! I agree that any social club/ private org. (including the LDS church) can set whatever rules they want for members. The KKK, Black panthers, LDS, Scientologists, YB's law firm, the YMCA, Justin Bieber fan clubs, etc. are, as inconsequential social/pseudo-religious clubs, allowed to set whatever silly rules for entrance that they want. I refuse to participate in the Jedi academy if they don't allow me to explore the darkside....Thanks Grandpa Bot! I think its great that you compared the LDS church to the Elks club - I can't think of a more appropriate analogy.

I still retain the right to mock or criticize your firm for its requirements.

While I have not seen the excommunication letter of a friend of mine, he did tell me that it emphasized that he should continue to give the Lord his 10% through a LDS family member.
