Ok but REALLLY? This and so much other tripe and hype that comes from 24/7 news is just silly. Romney was pissed that Perry was apparently lying. And it was just one of those "Oh really you dork? Wanna bet?" moments that we all have had. The press is making much out of NOTHING! It really makes me ill. And I would not hold this against Romney any more than I would hold it against Perry that he had a forgetful moment on stage when he was talking about departments he would eliminate (however Perry has gone on to show he is really not the brightest light bulb out there).
Yes Darth's response we better. But in the battle and heat of the moment is saying I will bet you $10k a big deal? I mean the press was saying that was the biggest part of the debate. SHEESH!
I like Huntsman. And I am starting to like him more than Romney. Too bad he has not done better but part of it is his own fault. He had a real lack luster start. I think he is positioning for future runs really.

He seems like the only sane GOP candidate.

But that's the problem. We all throw out wagers like that, but it's usually "I'll bet you $20" or "I'll buy you a dinner if..." Who throws out a $10,000 wager? It may not bug everyone that he has the money to make that kind of wager, but in this economic climate, people will think he is out of touch with the working and middle class. I'm not saying it's wrong for someone with money to have friendly wagers of $10,000, but it wasn't politically smart, and I would think his advisers would have been coaching him not to show off his money during the campaign, especially in the middle of a huge recession because it might turn off a segment of the population.
