Here it is a "recipe for neurosis".

I must have missed this. Please show where this is demonstrated.

I got the catch-phrase wrong, but the concept right. It's "recipe for disaster"

Good morning (evening?) mfb,

How's your mood today?

Do you think that members are permanently drifting somewhere inbetween apostasy and faithfulness? Some days closer to one than the other.

Who the hell do you think you're arguing against?

Tiny mistakes are magnified out of proportion - the only way they're not is if you stop caring about your mistakes, and if you stop caring, you're not righteous anymore. Righteousness never was happiness.

I'm a lot happier now. I thank the almighty Atheismo for granting me the blessings that Heavenly Father promised but couldn't deliver. Thanks, Atheismo, for giving me the ability to stop caring and let it go. :)

Not really arguing. Ranting is more like it. I really shouldn't come here anymore. There's nothing here for me.

Judging by your moniker I would say that's your projection, not mine.

Toodles.

So, what you're saying is that church leaders say a lot of stuff that is supposed to be inspired counsel, and they teach us to follow all of it, but that's unrealistic because it's too much to keep track of.

They don't teach you follow all that is in the Ensign or even at general conference. People cannot remember what was said yesterday never mind what was said 6 months ago. So, you need to re-evaluate what you are writing. Back in the day, very few remembered what was said in general conference unless they would refresh their memory by reading the magazine again. Such was life before the internet. And it is still that way. Very few people remember what was said in last year's conference. However, memory refreshing is always possilbe.

Now of course, critics like yourself pull out quotations from years ago as if all should know or care about what was said. They don't. End of story.

Why Me, what frustrates me about you is that you tend to refuse to acknowledge that there are aspects of the Church, and of the Mormon culture, that you don't know everything about! By your own admission, you are a partially participating member. As such, you are not completely immersed in the Mormon culture and community the way others of us who are 100% active are. To claim that you understand that level of immersion is very disingenuous. I believe that this is why you have so much trouble communicating with folks here.

I think that Mormons interpret various ideas from the GAs in different ways. For example, my exwife was not exactly a perfectionist in the home. She stayed home for the first three years of my children's life and then went to work. No one cared in the church that she did that. In fact, it was normal. And she wasn't exactly the perfect home cleaner. And such is life in the church. We are all different. And she is a very active member. Now Just me or you have your own interpretations and lifestyle. But for many women outside the Mormon corridor life is much different. Thus, we have women doing many different things in the Mormon stories series.

I do have experience with active members. Being inactive doesn't mean that one lives in isolation.

Uchtdorf thinks you should try harder why me.

General Conference—No Ordinary Blessing
A fine member of the Church was talking with a neighbor who was not of our faith. When the topic of discussion turned to general conference, the neighbor asked, “You say you have prophets and apostles? And twice a year in a worldwide conference they reveal the word of God?”

“Absolutely,” the member replied with confidence.

The neighbor thought about that for a moment. He seemed genuinely interested and then asked, “What did they say in the last general conference?”

At this point the good member of the Church went from feeling excited about sharing the gospel to feeling embarrassed. Try as he might, he couldn’t think of the details of a single talk.

His friend found this troubling and said, “You mean to tell me that God speaks to man in our day and you can’t remember what He said?

The brother felt humbled by this exchange. He vowed that he would do better to remember the words spoken by the Lord’s servants in general conference.

Great. If you'll notice, I used the phrase "recipe for disaster" in response to the suggestion that "sexual emotions have no place in an unmarried" person. Pretending that unmarried people can and should have no sexual desire whatsoever is indeed a recipe for disaster.

I haven't seen anyone say that striving to be a better person is a bad thing, and yet that's what you're insisting about us. It is true that I have on occasion privately expressed anger for some of the things you've said about me, and I am sorry I haven't always been kind. The kind of hostile debate you seem to enjoy doesn't appeal to me and tends to piss me off.
