You can dress a pig up any way you want and even put lip stick on it but it will never be a rose.
Use any noun or adjective you want to but the practice of the LDS from approx 1846 to 1978 regarding which men it would not ordain regardless of their personal worthiness, was morally wrong.

Ok, enough of this non-sense.
The doctrine denying blacks the priesthood was racist, man-made, EVIL, and not of God. I am a member of the LDS Church and apologize for such an ugly thing. That is the kind of example Mormons and the Church should be setting instead of dancing around the issue.

Droopy, no amount of reading will ever save you from being a morally repugnant fool. Religion was your one shot at doing something about that and you clearly blew it.

Amen.
I can accept that. Sounds reasonable enough to me.

If the ban was purely about "lineage" and "culture" or whatever, then why don't you provide just one example of a non-black person of "African descent" who was denied the priesthood? If this didn't have anything to do with skin color, then surely you can find just one example of a person of this lineage who happened to have light skin who was nonetheless denied the priesthood.
I believe that in Brazil people were asked whether they had African ancestry. Not that it matters. The doctrine and practice were clearly racist, no matter how many convoluted, obscure, and pseudo-sophisticated explanations these yahoos conjure.
You may be thinking of the case of Helvecio Martins, no?

But I'm wondering if Droopy can name someone of African descent who merely looked white (or Asian, or Latino, etc., etc.), but who was denied the priesthood for the reasons he's described.

Re: Seriously? Dark skin was a metaphor?
Given how adamantly certain Church members will deny that the ban was wrong and how the Church itself denies knowing why they issued the ban, would it be fair to say the Church remains unrepentant for this 132 year prohibition on black people?
When I tell people the Church has put racism behind them, I want to say it with a high degree of confidence.

Until and unless the LDS church itself makes a statement like this, this will continue to be an issue that will haunt the church.
The feeble attempts at rationalizations made by defenders of the faith, such as on this thread, only make matters worse, because they make it look like LDS are still racist.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

No, I was thinking of regular missionary procedure. In other words, if one has to ask, it must not be obvious to the naked eye.

Yeah, especially with all the reading of morally repugnant fools like Hegel, Foucault, Barthes, Sartre, and the cultural Marxists etc. I do.
I'm doomed.
