It seems quite telling that Bradford desires someone more in line with mainstream Mormon studies to fill Dan Peterson's spot. I don't know how many people here have experience participating in such circles (I know several participants here do)... but my experience has been that a growing diversity is found within them, and that for the most part people are very friendly, open minded, respectful, and cordial with one another. I suspect that the "powers-that-be" are extremely pleased by the progress of Mormon Studies in this regard, and have noticed this as a stark contrast against the "old boys" way of apologetics--and that this has (in part) encouraged the upcoming changes within the Maxwell institute (assuming that the reports are true).
I guess my point is this: antagonism is the environment where the "old boy" antics have thrived--it has been the terrain they've battled in for decades. We give Midgly, Hamblin, Peterson, Pahoran, Schriver, et all... relevance by being assholes to them and to the rest of Mormondom. Be kind, and the "old boys" are fish out of water--forced to adapt/evolve, or parish into irrelevancy.
We can also try to be kinder simply because it is the right thing to do. No doubt, I have been guilty of antagonistic debates too, but I am trying to repent and change my ways.

I'm pretty sure the "unknown" is not where he wants to be.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
I like Dr. Peterson and find him delightfully witty. He has been under pressure from critics for so long that his losing traction with all the niceties is perfectly understandable.
I do not count Dr. Peterson as down and out. He will be like the Phoenix and rise again in some other form and venue.

I'm so looking forward to it.

Maybe as an apostate? How fun would that be!? We would get to hear all the inside stuff.
DCP strikes back.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Dano is done.
Huh.
You know what my prob is? The threads grow so fast I feel "what's the use trying to follow the saga when I have no investment?"
I can't keep up. But I finally got a 3mm hem using a hemmer foot. It takes lots of practice. Why oh why did I give away the serger?

Yes café the very one. It is certainly a challenge. I almost have cotton going. I found there is a trick to it. I just tried it over and over and over tonight. Silk is another story...
