Bob's a family friend. I had such a crush on him as a teenager! And his daughter played me on film (long story which I may have told you before)...

Margaret Mead, once in a bookstore and once in church; Robert Redford at the planetarium (not only short, but old); Walter Cronkite a couple of times in the East 50s; Liza Minnelli at a dance studio; the Dalai Lama in Brooklyn Heights. My father had the best, though: He fixed Joan Crawford's washing machine.
I played 2on2 with Mark Madsen back in the Richards building at BYU. He had me by a 2-3 inches in height, but admittedly the biggest difference was how incredibly strong he was. We were both about 25 at the time. Even with the pushing and friction that accompanies low post play, he still had the strength to power through and dunk the ball, bodies hanging onto him etc. Interestingly he and his teammate only beat us 14-12 in our game to 11, win by 2.
I could care less about looking at celebrities, but it's a shame we all can't have the chance to try to return an Andy Roddick serve or catch a pass from Brett Favre. I usually don't care to watch basketball on television, but I followed Madsen's career until he retired.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Man your dad wins.
I did see Catherine Deneuve at the Whitney a long time ago---stunning.
And my husband keeps seeing my favorite actress in the world---Barbara Sukowa---in our neighborhood where she lives.I never see her.

"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"
Back in my publishing days, I collected signed books. A lot of authors came through, so I was particular. My criteria was, authors that wrote books I had no interest in reading but had a lot of interest from customers. I kept them all together on a bookshelf, that I called my "wall of weird".
Dan Quayle, Newt Gingrich, Darius Gray, are a few I can think of off the top of my head. A couple of times, I'd just be walking through a bookstore where an author happened to be signing, with no one in line, so I'd buy a book and have them sign it.
The books are all boxed up now. :)
Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction -Pope Benedict XVI
I saw Will Smith at a gas station in Woodland Hills. He was with his little boy and they were both standing out by his Bentley as he pumped his own gas. My son went over and asked for his autograph and he was really nice to him and even talked to him for a few minutes.
I saw Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany (and her two little boys) at Disneyland. She had her hair pulled up in a ponytail and no makeup on and was still gorgeous.....beautiful eyes!
My husband saw O.J. Simpson in a hotel lobby about a year after his first trial. He had a knit beanie on and a jacket pulled up around his neck like he wanted no one to notice him. My husband said he looked like a miserable, broken man.
And....yes....I also saw Robert Redford up at the Sundance ski resort a few times. He even smiled and winked at me once which melted my teenage heart at the time.

I worked at the MGM grand garden doing stage security for its first 11 years and between working hundreds of concerts, boxing matches, and conventions and have met hundreds of "stars".
Some of my highlights and lowlights. I have a picture of me and Muhammad Ali, I knock Barbra Streisand on her butt, I have a signed card by Sammy Hagar for a free bottle of tequila, I escorted Michael Jackson backstage to meet Streisand at our kickoff concert. I was mike Tyson's security for the first week before his first fight at the MGM after he got out of prison. I bodily moved Jimmy Page off the stage because he didn't have the right credentials. There are many other crazy stories that happened over the years. Most of the stars I interacted with were really nice and down to earth but there were also a bunch of assholes...top of the list would be Neil diamond.
As for meeting outside the Grand Garden, I once met Chris Mullen and John Stamos at Disneyland, and I met Junior Seau at the airport in Hawaii.

I missed that one ... I'm interested if you're in the mood to repeat it.
