Mirroring can produce incredible results.
Tivadar Kosztka Csontváry (mentioned in another thread - not about art...) has an "Old Fisherman".

The picture symbolizes that in every man there is the presence of God and Devil.
Mirroring the left side of the picture gives us an old man (god...) sitting in a boat, in the background there is a calm sea and a mountain view

The right side mirrored shows the crowned devil (in a coffin?), with erupting volcano and a dark stormy sea
