I want that work schedule. Keep in mind they don't work weekends either so imagine those with red marks as well.

from i gather, the liberal corn fed around here are promoting that one is not "working" unless they are "assembled"...and that Congress is a better service to constituents when they spend more time away from them and without contact form the people and places they are expected to "represent".
That somehow, a senator or representative is more effective if he spends more time washington than in the district?
that somehow not being on the floor of congress is a disservice to the people?
how mornic
what is a disservice is spending millions of dollars for a vacation when you claim you are working hard...taking time to play golf instead of working.
not every senator or representative is guaranteed a sweet salary, secret service protection, and other privileges just for a min 4 years of "service"...this guy looks like a welfare recipient...lazy entitled, and lazy again.

Ah, subgenius shows his hand, and reveals just what kind of racist he really is. My father used to use Patrick Ewing as the prime example to make his case that negros come from monkeys. And here subgenius is using him to describe Obama's wife.

Sub, you're an idiot and a despicable human being.

Just saying.

Anyone trying to bend over backwards to defend Congressmen as hard workers, ignoring their track record of producing record low legislative outputs, while at the same time criticizing a President he doesn't like, for doing nothing out of the ordinary by taking a friggin vacation to his home state after a long, hard fought, exhausting election season. Following this logic, Congressmen don't have to be in Washington to be "working," but the President does! Because we're all so certain that no of the President's aides are constantly speaking to him about national security issues, asking him to make decisions while on Air Force One, etc etc. No, of course not. We saw him swimming in the ocean, therefore he is lazy.

You're such a dumbass, sub.

You're such a d***a**, sub.

i never said they were hard workers...i have simply pointed out that any person who considers the "in session" days as the only days that congress works is a person who has little knowledge about basic government in our country.
So, while you rely on profanity and personal insults, the rest of us rely on facts and basic knowledge necessary to be a engaged citizen...and of course we work hard to pay taxes which inevitably subsidize your obvious reefer habit.

Even better, they now spend much of their time in Washington doing fundraising.

Geez, don't they teach basics anymore?

the following shows how many bills the sessions introduced
http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/refere ... esumes.htm

the following shows a history of how many days congress is in session
http://thomas.loc.gov/home/ds/

There are four types of adjournments. The most common form of adjournment ends the day, following a motion to do so. Adjournments for three days or less also require the adoption of a motion to adjourn. These are limited to each chamber; the House may adjourn while the Senate remains in session or vice-versa. Adjournments for a period longer than three days require the consent of the other chamber and the adoption of a concurrent resolution in both bodies. Finally, legislators may adjourn "sine die" to end a session of Congress, which requires the consent of both chambers and follows the adoption of a concurrent resolution in both chambers.

So why haven't you explained why you think the president is only on duty or "working" when he is in the White House?

I don't have a problem with the President taking vacations. I just have a problem with the cost and logistics that are now involved (and yes, that includes both Republican and Democrat Presidents). At some point, enough is enough, especially when deficits and austerity are concerns.

It would be interesting to see how many tens of millions a dollars a year would be saved if the president simply quarantined himself to the White House for four years. Such a move would be superlatively immaterial given the size, scope, and nature of the budget challenges we’re facing, but it could send a powerful message.
It’s relatively easy to agree that only Homo sapiens can speak about things that don’t really exist, and believe six impossible things before breakfast. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

I know we live in a dangerous world, but maybe there would be a way to reduce the associated costs with the President's travel without putting his safety in jeopardy.

But after all...
