If there ever is a disaster -- these are the people, who are going to be in their homes, blinded by paranoia and driven by adrenaline as their dystopian eroticism plays out in their minds while they drool over the anticipation to have a chance to heroically kill someone. Meanwhile, the rest of normal society will continue to function and rebuild.

Frightening.

My daughter sent us a video of her shooting a .50 cal. at a range in Idaho. I told her she must really like this guy, as she's never shot a gun in her life before and has never been interested in doing so. He's not a crazy prepper, just a guy who likes hunting and fishing and, apparently, shooting large-caliber weapons.

Pretty sure that God intended for large caliber weapons to be mounted on, and fired from, safe stable platforms like this USMC tank (well okay, Humvee). Having fired 'em both ways, I like this way a whole lot better (especially if someone were to start firing back).

Packing one of these beasts around (the gun - not the Humvee) along with the ammo, and perhaps even a bipod, just seems like severe overkill to me.

The one she fired was on a sort of tripod mount, and she was prone when firing.

They are normally issued with a collapsing bipod. And unless you are Rambo, prone or kneeling behind a wall upon which you can use the bipod for support is the only practical way to fire them. They weigh 30 pounds.

Rambo used a SAW.... which is a weapon I've also trained with.
Also, the above weapon on the Humvee is a 50 Cal.

There are 50 Cal. Sniper Rifles, that thus can be carried easily.

I don't think a tent city is far fetched. Weren't there such things to some degree during the financial collapse in 2008 and also Katrina? A bigger collapse, which is certainly possible, and or an earthquake in SLC could do it. Be assured that any financial collapse the Church will ride out through diversification and to cover any losses they do suffer, they'll call upon the Saints to help. Even the Saints who have lost their homes. If there is a disaster, and any forewarning from scientists at all, the top brass will be the first to escape the scene to some place safe and it will be up to local leaders to organize any tent cities. A tent city would be a great finding opportunity for a Snuffer-like religion as someone mentioned.

Mr. Faqs,

Rambo used various handguns, a compound bow, a serrated knife, a flamethrower, various rifles, various machine guns (most notably the M60), shotguns, various ordinances and ordinance launchers, various helicopters and tanks, but not once... Not one time did he use the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW).

When have you 'trained' with the M249 SAW, and with whom?

Oh wow. From the comment section.

KurttheMormon wrote: An interesting thing: In the last few weeks, I was given an unmistakably strong prompting that I would find my eternal companion amidst all the chaos.

Within the next month, I will be buying another year of food storage accordingly, as well as feminine hygiene products. Also, (laugh at me if you want, but I'm doing it anyway), personal items necessary for married life in a crisis.

Quite a few. I already mentioned feminine care items, as well as other items I think might be good to have for a relationship while the rest of the world is falling apart. I wouldn't imagine having children in a crisis would be wise, so that issue would need to be prepared for as well. Beyond that, maybe some extra toiletries of various kinds. Shampoo, soap, feminine toiletry items...

That sort of thing.

I'll let the Holy Ghost prompt me in what to get, just like I did when I followed the Holy Ghost's advice in getting my self-defense items in order. There were some interesting things I was directed towards. For example, I felt guided towards buying security/warning signs to hang around the neighborhood during a disaster to ward off people up to no good. Beware of dog signs, armed guard on patrol signs (which would be me), etc.

Same deal when I sought out the best combat instructor in the state to teach me how to fight and defend my loved ones in a crisis. I prayed about it and searched around for about a week. Ended up finding and hiring a SWAT Team Leader and an ex-Special Forces Commando, all by the direction of the Holy Ghost. This is the Urban Combat training I did with them 2 weeks ago. They were excellent, and I'm going for more training over the next few weeks:

My response deleted as redundant.

Doc already responded above with yet another correction of ldsfaqs' "facts".
