I recently ran across this Deseret News article titled:
New Joseph Smith Papers volume provides insight into his 'turbulent and incredibly productive' final year of life
Here's the link:

Nary a mention of polygamy. By my estimates, during the time period discussed in the article (the last 14 months of Joseph's life) he married approximately 16 new wives (added to the 19 wives he already had). During the same 14 months, Joseph publicly, vehemently, and repeatedly denied he was a polygamist. He also hid his polygamy from Emma. That may have contributed to the turbulence.
Kind of odd the DesNews didn't mention that. I wonder if the new volume of the Joseph Smith papers discusses the polygamy?

16 new wives in one year? That sounds productive and turbulent. If I remember my D&C 132 correctly, isn't he supposed to ask all the previous wives if he can marry the next one? And it does seem like good form to at least send them announcements.
