Because although the cards were written weeks back, they're not yet sent out.

They're still undergoing correlation.

Seriously though, please don't misunderstand. I respect and appreciate Elder Oaks. I hope he appreciates the spirit in which that was intended.

If we can't chuckle occasionally about individual quirks and differences, especially our own, then Elder Wirthlin's closing remarks don't benefit any of us.
"As we look for humor, seek for the eternal perspective, understand the principle of compensation, and draw near to our Heavenly Father, we can endure hardship and trial. We can say, as did my mother, 'Come what may, and love it.'"

Oaks has the time to trifle away categorizing his Xmas cards? I thought the 15 Pretenders were supposed to be so busy? Maybe someone should send Oaks a few dozen jigsaw puzzles for him to while away his time.

The comments on oak's page are very pointed. Will the Mormons never figure out how the internet works?

That's 14% of Easter talks that focused on the reason for the season. Maybe get your own act together before publicly shaming people who were thoughtful enough to send you a card?

Laughing my *ss off at this one. Oh, the irony.

Being LDS was like being trained for sales. It became especially stark and undeniable when on a mission. It was Glengarry Glen Ross without the swearing, but all the intensity and browbeating and making the trainees to feel unworthy--that's why there weren't more baptisms. But the reality is, Fords aren't better than Chevys. It's just rah-rah.

I'm surprised that they wasted 2 of the 14 GC talks on Easter Sunday on the resurrection. 'Ponderize' had to await until the semi-annual GC in October, after all.

In the LDS church, there is a distinct arrogance of position in the hierarchy. Oaks said the most quintessentially LDS thing when he claimed LDS would be blessed for following the leaders even when wrong, without complaining or pointing out their error. If you have no self-respect, it's easy being LDS.

Good for Emily Wilson for calling Oaks out, and asking that the Brethren remove the mote from their own eyes first.

7 were beautiful crèche scenes, but for my family - the Catholics - ours was a Santa Claus scene.

Because I had left the Mormon church, my parent explained, they did not want to 'offend' me by imposing their beliefs.

Mormons are so ridiculously provincial.

Creche, as in a Nativity scene. Seriously? They didn't think a Catholic would appreciate a Nativity scene? That's so strange.

I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who - is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are. - Milton Berle

You're telling me! But, this is also the family where my SIL announced, full voice, while standing in the center of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (NYC),
you can just FEEL the spirit of Satan in this place!

I was beyond mortified.

Good thing you didn't have her there when they do the blessing of the animals. She'd have thought RC's are into bestiality as well

I know! I would have done it too, just to mess with her.
(although the Cathedral of St John the Divine is Episcopalian; not that the average Mormon would care--they are ALL wrong!! every church not Mormon is ALL WRONG!)

Episcopalians are just Catholic lite. All of the pageantry, half of the guilt.
