Trump engages in such transparent BSing nearly every time he opens his mouth that I think he gets a relative pass because it is expected of him. The attitude is, "Well, what do you expect? That's Trump." I think lowered expectation effect is dangerous, but it is what it is. It's basically what Fox News gets away with writ small into the persona of one political figure.

I think Fox News is mostly responsible for birthing the Trump candidacy. I also think that Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch are secretly ruing it.

I love how Trump is already backpedaling from his "ban all Muslims" rhetoric. Now he is saying it was just a suggestion, not necessarily something that he would actually do.

I think the Donald is counting heavily on the low information status of his base. Whatever he says makes sense if you don't think about much (or at all).

So Ajax are you disappointed he will not ban Muslims? How about when he he says he will not really build a wall?

I never thought we had to keep Muslims out specifically. All that really matters to me at this point is that Trump is tougher on terrorism than Hillary Clinton, who presided over Benghazi and then lied about it being incited by some youtube video.

I wasn't aware that Trump said he was no longer going to build the wall. CFR. Just saying that he wanted to do anything at all to stop illegal immigration put Trump miles ahead of people like Jeb Bush in the primary. I'm not convinced that the wall is the best way to stop illegal immigration either. But we're really not divided between people who think building a wall is the way to go and people who don't. We're divided on people who think illegal immigration is great for the country and want more of it versus people who think it is a problem and want to stop to it.

Again I really don't buy the Glenn Beck idea that Trump is this closet liberal that is going to govern to the left of Obama if he gets elected. If this were true, he wouldn't be so hated by the left.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Wow...I don't know where to begin with this. Perhaps with odds favorite being of the three people left actively running for their major party's nomination, Clinton is very likely the most hawkish? Demonstrably so?

She can't even say radical Islamic terrorism. How is she more serious about fighting it than Trump?

The two most substantive things Trump has said about his plans for the military is to spend less on it (while making it the biggest, baddingest ever of course) and force our allies to pay for their own defense. That includes in the middle east (I assume the Saudis and Israel are talking to his people to find out what that means) and in Asia with Japan and South Korea on the doorstep of the single most dangerous nation-state in the world right now within missile distance. And China on the ascent.

Clinton has basically said she'll stay the Obama course more or less. I know, you can't see how that means anything because Obama's a Muslim sympathizer if not one himself. Thus, they can't speak ill of their own, right?

Your standard in the original post I quoted is based on buying rhetoric but not paying attention to anything they say in detail.

How is she or Obama not being tough on terrorism? Is all you have that they avoid saying Islamic terrorism? if so then you really have nothing.

Trump has been hated by people on all sides. He now has a following because he knows what words to make some very stupid people happy. All you need is words instead of more intelligent people who would demand details of why and how he would do anything. All Trump has really said is just words he knows people like you on the far right will like and not demand more. He just says trust him.

Trump not building a wall is just a predictable position he will take either before the election or right after.
