If the Bill Reels of the LDS community ran the church, a lot more of those who have left would still be active.

How could anyone in the Mormon "faith transition" business and podcasting not know? I mean. C'mon.
Anyway. It's interesting to see someone move in on John Dehlin's turf!

DBMORMON, why did you choose your site's name to be so similar to ours?

I see what you did there.

Oh please.
How so and WHY?
Because I have had direct conversations with him via PMs and followed him on both this board and others. If the church operated their meetings in the manner Bill conducts himself, we would find members with doubts not being driven away but encouraged to express freely their opinions and questions, but then you would know this if you bothered to inform yourself about him.

When Bill started his podcast and posted on staylds, he was so optimistic and naïve. He really thought he was going to change the church from within. I bet him he would be excommunicated within five years. I have 2 years left before I lose that bet.
I genuinely respect Bill and wish him all the luck. I wish he was right and that the church was what he thought it was and hoped it would become. But it is not. This was my biggest beef with Reel. He really thought and believed the church was something that it simply is not going to be. He asked to interview me when he had first started but I had already moved past the staylds stage and my story did not fit his podcast at the time as he was looking to promote faith and remaining in the church and I no longer believe that was feasible or even recommended.
When he started his podcast he did not know this site existed. He talked about it a little bit on staylds and was actually embarrassed and apologetic because his podcast was more faith believing then this forum and didn't want to confuse the listeners.

How far would this new and improved Mormon President DB go with that?
Would he allow legally gay couples full membership? Even being sealed in the temple??
Would he allow women to be priesthood holders?
Would he call women to be bishops, stake presidents, and even Apostles???
Would he allow unwed fornicating couples to have full membership?
Would he allow members to give talk on how they oppose certain portions of the theology?
The list is as long as the day.
Yes. Actually I think he would.
Which is why he will be excommunicated within two years.
