Eh, not necessarily.
Yes, necessarily.
David Wilson makes some very compelling evolution-based arguments against psychological egoism. Going there is a bit of a derail though :)
Are you suggesting that MG's behavior is to be interpreted as altruistic?
It goes without saying that if MG posts a comment it's because he "wanted" to, but it's quite a jump to assign malicious motives. Question: what do you profit from this conjectural analysis of MG's psychology? I observe that you have a tendency to bust out these "ESP powers" quite frequently, which seems to coincide with and be designed to discredit someone or something you disagree with. You don't like so and so's view on such and such, out comes psychological analysis leveraging this as evidence of how they are a broken person inside.
I have a tendency to bust out a 30 year career and education in behavioral sciences that coincides with opportunities on this board to share them where they may be of use as indicated by my previous and lengthy post earlier today.

Just walk over the poop. That's what I do.
Haha. Well, I don't think I've ever complained about it, and FTR my comment here wasn't meant in that spirit either.
Now I can't shake the image of a dog walking carefully to avoid stepping in poop.
Thanks, guys.

I saw him express that in the last couple of weeks in response to other comments I didn't see it expressed in response to the "loser" comment last year. And, seriously, do you really think that an anonymous guy on the internet saying "you're a loser" has any impact at all on Grindael's reputation with professional historians who might drop in here? I'm not sure that passes the "Aw, c'mon" test.
Anyway, my point wasn't to criticize you -- just to make the point that there is inconsistency in how people behave everywhere you look. If it wasn't so hard to spot inconsistency in oneself, I'd have included me as an example. If you look a little, I'm sure you or anyone can find some in my posts with very little effort.
no problem, I didn't feel criticized. Bottom line is it doesn't matter what you or I think and neither of us fully knows grindael's situation; grindael, in real life, felt harassed and mocked for years and he finally left to avoid it.

Three years and one or two posts were enough for him, I suspect.
I think we can all do better. Put certain folks on ignore or simply ignore them. Report when needed.
I do hope grindael returns when he's ready.

Hey, this here's the dog's trailer park too, yanno.
;-)
Great. Now it's a pug....
