I think it was illicit that Clinton was given a question in advance for a debate. This is mitigated somewhat by the fact that the question was on something that obviously was going to be asked about and Clinton would to have prepared for anyway. Also it was only 1 question in a primary debate among approximately 1 gajillion debates. Still, it was unethical.

The idea that this is in any way whatsoever comparable to the kind of wrongdoing being discussed with respect to Trump is where things really run of the rails. At its worst, we're talking about the worst act of traitorous behavior in American history. That's not even ballpark comparable to an act that rises to the level "not cool, man."

Subgenius's response to Papadopoulos plea deal, which has some highly damning information for the Trump campaign, is "what about that debate question?" The implied argument is that Trump isn't responsible for the behavior of people in his campaign and all campaigns have moral faults.

I don't believe that holds up to scrutiny. All the debates I've seen had both sides given the questions ahead of time. In the Lincoln-Douglas Debates both sides knew in advance that the debates were to be about slavery. Thinking further; every math test I took we were given the questions ahead of time. We just had to show our work in answering them.

I mean Donna Brazile admitted to giving the questions in advance to Clinton during the primary. This isn't really a topic that can be debated. The only thing worth questioning is if we think knowing a question or two ahead of a debate is on-par with soliciting aid from a foreign power to win an election.

At worst it was a faux pau, but we seen it in long old political campaigns before. It would be interesting to know if team Drumpf were given the same questions too. It wouldn't shock me either way. I agree that it is nothing comparable to what Drumpf is alleged to have done.

The irony being that you aren't intelligent enough to recognize that your Trump-Russia is more akin to Pizzagate at this point.
