Here's Donald and Melania at this year's Easter Egg Roll
Here's Barack and Michelle in 2016
Keep in mind, both are speaking to the same audience: children that are excited to go on an Easter Egg Hunt. Both speeches start with the obligatory thank yous, but then Trump goes off on a tangent where he says the White House really doesn't have a name, the economy is doing great, "just think of seven hundred billion dollars, because that's all going into our military."
Now Barack and Michelle do their own talk about what they've accomplished, but it is primarily about opening up the White House to a lot of different people, and having to do with a positive message of hope and change.
Now I'm not about to suggest that someone should change their vote on the basis of the Easter Egg Roll speech, and while Melania isn't as gifted a speaker as Michelle, I find zero fault in her speech. But there is something distinctly atonal about Trump's speech. He's not really there. He's out on the campaign trail. He doesn't seem to know how to change gears, to just relax. He makes me think of the description of a narcissist as someone who doesn't have a true center.
Again, throwing out ideology, it is a striking contrast in style.

What a moron subpenis is. Obama didn't take office until Jan 2009. The Jonas Brothers attended the 2007 & 08 Easter Egg Rolls, under Bush. What a freaking idiot subpenis is. He can't even get his troll right.

Trump's Easter Egg speech doesn't have anything on his speech to the Boy Scouts.
I mean, the head of the Boy Scouts had to actually apologize for Trump's speech. Think about that. The President of the United States speaks to the Boy Scouts (arguably one of the most patriotic groups in the country) and the head of the Boy Scouts has to apologize!
“I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree,” Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh said in a letter published online. “That was never our intent.”

I am reminded of the story Ivanka told of her dad pointing out a homeless man and telling her, at the age of 9 or 10, that this man was more rich than he because that man "has 8 billion dollars more than" Trump because the Don was burdened with debt.

He really knows how to talk to children in a way that conveys difficult truths they might not otherwise understand and end up having a distorted view of reality otherwise.

Thanks for bringing up the Boy Scouts. The connecting thread between the two events is children. They are not impressed with Trump's narcissistic 'adult' persona. You can see why he would be uncomfortable with children. They require an emotionally direct response that is just not in the President's wheelhouse. Children don't 'get' Donald Trump, and so he doesn't 'get' how to communicate with children.

I think a more apt comparison would be the Obamas at the 2010 Easter Egg Hunt. That would be the second Easter of his Presidency as well.
