Best News this Week: ‘Roseanne’ Canceled By ABC
The reboot of the 'Roseanne' sitcom has been cancelled by ABC owing to off-the-rails racist tweets by Ms. Barr - the (so-called) star.
Just another example of the level of discourse in which right wing racists feel privileged to engage with the pussy-grabber-in-chief as President leading the way.

I only watched segments of the reboot on youtube. I wasn't at all impressed. I thought the acting was "flat".
She did issue an apology, so I don't know if that should have sufficed or not. One thing I'm happy for is that folks who are grossly out of line are getting hit where it hurts. In their bank accounts.

Seconded. The only part I feel bad about in this is for the other cast and crew (Goodman aside) who just lost their gig over this. I know there is some "dance with the devil" kind of mentality about it but sometimes you just take the job you can get and it kinda sucks to have lost it for some bad behavior.Jersey Girl wrote:I only watched segments of the reboot on youtube. Edit: Bad behavior is not really strongly worded enough, the sentence should probably read "to have lost it because your coworkers is a loud mouthed bigot."

From what I understand, Don Jr. actually retweeted her rants.

Her exact words were "I apologize. I am now leaving Twitter." It's an interesting statement. It's like she recognizes the magnitude of what she has done in respect to her own standing, so in order to survive she will keep her opinions private. "I apologize" is as perfunctory as you can get. Apologize for what, exactly? It's an acknowledgement that she went over the line, but no acknowledgement of why it was wrong to go over.
If I had to guess, this message came after a screaming phone call from her agent or manager, telling Rosanne that this was the only chance she had of saving her show. It was not enough.

I'm curious whether you have an issue with Goodman or are just not worried about him financially. He seems like a decent dude to me, but I don't know him well at all.

Roseanne is obviously not a clear thinker. I watched her recent interview with Dave Rubin. It's practically impossible to draw a straight line from her opinions to her support of Drumpf. It makes no sense at all. She's for universal health care and making large corporations share their profits, for instance. I have no idea why she thinks Drumpf would get those things done, or even want to.

Goodman should be able to land on his feet just fine. In interviews I've seen he did seem to really be enjoying being back at the show so obviously that isn't great but I doubt he will struggle to find work after this, assuming he wants to.Some Schmo wrote:I'm curious whether you have an issue with Goodman or are just not worried about him financially. I mean some 1 in 10 Bernie Sanders supporters moved over to team Trump. You may be giving a bit too much credit to people in regards to carefully fleshing out their political ideologies and selecting candidates that can advance that agenda. Some Schmo wrote:Roseanne is obviously not a clear thinker. Probably worth noting that the single biggest predictor of those changing sides had to with perceptions on race and job approval for Obama. It isn't "news" but the bigot vote went to Trump... enter Roseanne stage left.

I am slowly learning that many people don't think much at all. I don't think I give people too much credit in this regard.
When people moved from Bernie to Drumpf, I was as mystified by that as anything else regarding that abysmal election. It still makes no sense to me, unless people vote by throwing darts at a dart board.
