I really don't want to be barging into an 'ex/critic of/ completely against Mormons and Mormonism" support group.
I mean, that's just rude.
If you are looking for a forum that protects Mormons from criticism valid or otherwise, and/or you feel like you cannot adequately defend your own beliefs here, I would recommend Mormon Dialogue & Discussion Board.
It is a board where the moderation makes no bones about being biased toward believers and as long as your version of 'true Mormonism"matches that of the moderators you will get along just fine. Fair warning, even many believers over there are at times unhappy with how moderation is done, and over there when you make a statement of fact you have to provided references or retract it. Failing to do so will get views that are contrary to those of the moderators, thread banned and eventually perma banned.
Our strength and weakness here is the fact that opinions are not censored by moderators who ban people. If you say something offensive enough it might get moved to a different sub forum where such things are allowed but you do not get banned for your opinions however you wish to express them. It is that freedom of expression which seems to cause those seeking to defend a certain view of the church the most problem.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Or, if you want to have a discussion in a forum that requires a more respectful tone, start a thread on a topic involving Mormonism in the Celestial Forum. The moderation is tighter there.

True, but frankly the majority of what has been posted in this thread would be acceptable up there. The problem for Niadna would be much the same. She would still get challenged and it is doubtful anyone would show up to advocate her side in the Celestial forum either.

True, but I understood at least part of her objection to be to the ridicule. If she's looking for other folks to take her side on her apologetics, she''s going to be disappointed. Still, if her apologetics are valid, it should matter how many folks are on which side.

No, unlike your need to categorize people into distinct categories, there is a spectrum of belief on this site. One thing that is valued across the spectrum is knowledge and the ability to back up your claims with fact and evidence without a bunch of hand waving and gaslighting. Just look at Don Bradleys contributions. You don't seem to be capable of providing any back up to most of the claims you are making here - the closest you have come is referencing FAIR and letting us know you ordered a book that grindael already quoted for you. Here is a word of advice, if you are going to make a verifiable claim, provide backup...like the actual quote or source so people can actually look at themselves not some interpretation made by FAIR or some long winded explanation of "context" based on your misunderstandings of what occurred, that just sounds so shallow and transparent. Its like the first thing most new "apologists" turn to is "context" and its soooooooo lame...This isn't carm, most of us were members for a long time and many of us are quite well read.
Your inability to provide backup for any of your claims is like the online debate version fingernails on a chalkboard. Your personal commentary on what you think occurred or what it meant is meaningless and just annoying to read as your bias is so horrendously obvious that its hard to read without constant eye rolls. Consider this, anytime you make a verifiable statement, consider that someone has made a call for references before hitting submit. It will save us all time if you just get in the habit of providing backup rather than having to repeatedly ask you to provide references for your faulty and erroneous claims.

Well, don't disinvite her. She is just as welcome to come and play in the sandbox and learn the ropes. There is plenty of sand to play and toss around. She needs to decide for herself how this board can help her deal with the problems she has in drinking her Mormonism. I'm sure she has figured out there is a lot to learn here and get a whole new perspective doing it. I don't think she's particularly happy in Mormonism and is looking around as pretty much everyone does that has half a brain.
This board has freedom of speech and expression. I think she values that because she is outspoken and loves to speak her mind.
