I don't see progressives saying that white folks shouldn't talk to POCs. It's that there are far too many white folks telling POCs what they "should" be doing politically and precious little listening. And, yeah, splaining. So its not STFU -- more like STFU and listen for a change. I don't view listening to underrepresented points of view as a loss of my free speech.

If I see a person speeding toward a cliff, let me consider whether it would be bossy of me to tell them so. I am always telling people what to do because I assume that what I have to say is so important. Maybe I should just keep quiet this time.

Or maybe I am just a guy on a little discussion board who posed a question I was curious about. If our POC Trump supporters here are willing to share their reasons for continuing to support a wannabe authoritarian leader who has given lots of confidence to actual Neo-Nazis and white supremacists to come out of the shadows and run for office, then I am all ears. Excuse me for presuming to bring to others’ attention the fact that Trump attracts and enables hate ideologues, and it is thus a poor idea to support him. I am awaiting further enlightenment from those truly in the know.

The evidence of his white supremacism is in his association with the alt-right, his many dog whistles to white supremacists, calling the Neo-Nazis protesting in Virginia “good people,” and in his cruel policies such as separating refugee children from their parents seeking asylum.

No need for apologies and please don’t think I am angered by your post. I am aware of the white people presuming to tell black people how to protest. I thought it was ridiculous and racist. More than anything, I was hoping to provoke a POC Trump supporter to set me straight. I am still trying to figure out how inappropriate my method was. I am willing to entertain the possibility that I went about this the wrong way.

But another part of me sees a real distinction with a difference between latently racist white folks lecturing BLM protesters on how to protest, or, say, the blatantly racist Donald Trump falsely accusing black football players of disrespecting the flag when they took a knee, and me saying, “Why is *any* POC tolerating Trump’s racism? Stop!”

I feel pretty confident that the vast majority of people outside of the Trump bubble realize that Trump is either genuinely racist (my position) or he is at least using racism to reach his goals (Dean Robbers’ view). The declining number of POC Republicans and Trump supporters suggests to me the strong possibility that a fair number of POC people have jumped ship because of these troubling events in which Trump’s exploitation of racism manifested itself quite clearly.

For the few hold outs like subgenius, a challenge to explain himself may be in order.
