Avenatti seems to be auditioning for Drumpf pugilist in 2020. I think he wants to be able to declare he's the only Democrat with the tools needed to fight Drumpf on his own terms.

I don't see him having the popularity to pull off the nomination, though. He can be pretty nauseating to listen to.

Obviously Democrats loved Ford's performance and the Senators from both parties fulfilled their self-aggrandizing duties, thus cancelling themselves out.
But the victory is clearly Republican because of Mitchell. She artfully erased any notion of "old white guys belittle helpless woman".

I think Mitchell did her part in mitigating any blowback to Republicans over sexism but I think it would be naïve to suggest that was all that was needed for Republicans to "win". We'll see how it plays out but if I was a betting man I'd put money on Kavanaugh not being on Supreme Court.

ETA: Nate Silver brought it up and I think it is a great point: "Repeating myself here, but again, it feels like this is what you get when Republicans didn’t really do much blocking and tackling for him by outsourcing their questioning to Mitchell. He’s trying to do a LOT — poke holes in Ford’s account, give biographical background to make himself sympathetic, stoke grievances about how the process has played out, etc. I’m not saying he’s doing a particularly good job of it. But it isn’t an easy job."

Ford neither gained nor lost. Her testimony did not have any surprises that caused people to abandon Repubs. Her story basically stayed in place.
The Democrats desperately needed an on-air display of "old white oppressors" and they didn't get that. The rage balloon has been deflated. Already Democrats are scrambling to find an outrage, and their effort reeks of desperation. For example, now the "double standard" card is being played because Judge (a male) did not have to testify due to his sworn denial. But Ford had to testify even after a sworn accusation? To equate these two circumstances is not beside the point, but also a concession that Ford didn't move the needle.

that's a win.

Hey idiot, I just saw virtually everyone on FOX say she came across as impressive and credible. You want so badly for this to be a partisan thing when it reality it is just a sexual assault thing, which explains why Republican assholes like you immediately side with the other asshole.

So far Kavanaugh is coming across like an emotionally unhinged maniac. Even when he's quiet the look on his face looks like he's trying so hard not to crap his pants. The way he goes off on a rant against Democrats is enough to convince any rational mind that this nutjob doesn't need to be on the Supreme Court.

you're so desperate that now you find Fox news agreeable?
Geez, have some integrity dude.

Besides, a good winner always tells the loser "good game", its good sportsmanship (not that you would be familiar).

Kavanaugh isn't exactly disabusing me of the idea that he's a hack GOP operative in a robe here. But then, I am not the audience.

I love how this privileged asshole tries to convince people his life has been destroyed.

Seriously? Because you don't get to become a supreme court judge, your life is "destroyed"?

Ya, I'm sure he'll be living in the slums in a month right? No more million dollar golf club memberships, no more top security around the clock, nah, he's destroyed i tell ya!

What a joke. He and the idiots on the Right keep talking about due process and innocent until proven guilty, but this is NOT A CRIMINAL TRIAL YOU FUKNUTS.

This is a damn job interview.

This rage monster is supposed to be a rational, fair minded judge? All he does is rage against Democrats and make excuses, no wonder Trump likes him so much.

If his family is embarrassed it is no ones fault but his own. He shouldn't have been assaulting girls when he was younger. It all came back to bite him in the ass. If he really wanted to protect his family from embarrassment then he never should have sought out a life of power and fame.
