I just saw a 27 yoa seemingly healthy myope. I asked what his occupation just as part of the history. "Oh I get disability but do you know anyone who is offering any cash pay jobs? I get tired of sitting at home doing nothing." I guess once you get that disability income coming in you don't want to mess it up by going back to work.

Everyone knows there are people abusing the system, but personal stories are kinda useless. Do you have accurate percentages of those who are committing fraud in these areas?

How do you measure exact percentages of any illegal underground activity going on? Isn't part of how they don't get in trouble for this the fact that the authorities don't know about it?

I think malincentives exist in the program. To me, that's a problem.

In the meantime the rest of us see our tax rates go up as we work overtime. This needs to change.

Like white collar professionals/criminals in the medical community fraudulently charging for services not rendered, or overcharging?

You think? That is not enough to go on. You don't know if it is a big problem such that the benefit to keeping the program running is not justified or if the cost is small that the benefit of keeping the program running is much higher then the cost, and we can look for ways to eliminate some of the problems.

You'll note Ajax has not, not one time, ever bitched about the medical profession, white collar criminals that they are, bilking our government for hundreds of billions in overages, charges, and straight up theft under the guise of *insert whatever thieving excuse they use here*.

No, not since I got the letters OD after my name. Let me assure you that nobody ever got rich off $29 Medicaid reimbursement exams.

Doc if you read the section entitled, the disability industrial complex in the article, "Unfit for work, the startling rise of disability in America," you'll see examples of white collar borderline fraud on a large scale by doctors and lawyers approving people for disability. I've complained about this plenty.
