This shows the Church spends five times as much per year on the names of dead people, than it does on alleviating the suffering of living people. Think about that. Why would the names dead people be five times more important to Jesus than the starving masses? Because they can be used to generate revenue via tithes. With starving people it’s just take take take...

The rest of the interview is great. He talks about how people aren't allowed to walk in front of Seventies. The interviewee describes how "we're like 100 years from being like the Catholics, kissing rings, etc.". Talks about personal experiences with some GAs, including Rusty, DHO, Bednar, etc.

John tried to get this guy to estimate how much duplication existed in ordinances carried out for individuals-someone may want to check this but i heard that about 1.2 billion ordinances have been carried out and he estimated 10-20% were duplicates because of difficulty crosschecking to eliminate duplication mostly because of church members extracting and carrying out the ordinances. So some family members have done their grandma's work maybe 30 or 40 times-poor grandma!!

That was a great interview. I love hearing from people who know the LDS Church on the inside. I prefer them to just about any other kind of MoSto interview.

I Was listening to it yesterday and I think he said 30%. either way wow.
He stated that famous people may have been baptized a thousand times each, a George Washington type.
He also brought up something I never thought about. Baptisms for the Dead take about 1 minute or 2 a piece, while an endowment is over an hour...so they are light years away for endowments to catch up with the BftD.
The guy was very fluid and knew his job, a easy listen. I only listened to the first episode while I was driving, I wonder what he talked about the other two hours or so?

If those theologians, philosophers and neuroscientists who do not accept dualism are right then all the temple work is useless because there are no spirits existing anywhere to accept or reject the teachings and rituals.

I would put the figure much higher, in the billions per year. Consider the cost of building and maintaining temples. The new Rome temple alone was $200 million. Then start to factor in the volunteer hours and temple attendance for proxy work wasted on dead people. Then add to that genealogy work done by members and the church.
Think about what good could be done here and now if all that money and activity were to be focused on live people.
What a colossal waste.

You say 200m someone else says 100m. I know cost information is not released publicly...where are the estimates coming from?
