Rome Temple - cross on the door. Gone.

Post by _I have a question »

A poster on yonder board has made the observation that the original marketing and schematic blurb for the Rome temple showed a distinct cross on the front door. On the finished product the cross has gone.

While interesting, I am not sure if it is that big a deal. We have always avoided cross symbolism but is there anything that prohibits it?

I'm more interested in the idea of whether the LDS church presented their temple for approval on condition that it had a cross on the door. Is it required? What is the law or code in Italy for a building of this class? I don't know. But could it be the church pulled a fast one? If so, then the cross will need to be installed on the door of the temple or the temple will need to be dismantled. This is not America! It's ROME.

Put the cross back on or bring in the wrecking balls!

My LDS vampire friends are greatly relieved. This makes temple attendance much more comfortable for them.

Okay, get this. I'm not making this crap up. God! It just irks me to death.

When in Rome … you'll soon see a Mormon temple

Note in the article how members of the church fasted that ruins not be found on their precious site wherein the temple was to be built.

The church had owned the site for a decade or more, but to build there, it had to ensure no ruins were buried there. While crews dug for bones of buildings, the Mormons fasted.

In the end, some ruins were found within 200 yards of the site, but not within it. The project moved forward.

For Christ Jesus sake! Either there are ruins there or there are not. No amount of fasting is going to change that seeing it's simply a matter of historical fact. The FASTING was for the purpose that they wouldn't find the ruins whether there were any there or not the Mormons didn't care just so long as they could build there bloody cult temple on that site -- ruins or no ruins.

Disgusting Mormons. And note in the article they practically consider it all a miracle. Good God -- holy freaking Jesus. Stupid Mormons.

Did I say "Stupid Mormons"? Stupid Mormons!

It's pretty funny when going to other blogs and message boards members of the church claim that it's not really a cross but just the design of the door. It's like they want us to believe our lying eyes!

Stupid Mormons. Pull your Mormon heads out of your _____.

Stupid Mormons will tell you that it's not really a cross but is just the way the door is designed and how it appears in that lighting.

Good God. Mormons are such liars.

Cross aversion in Mormonism isn’t new, but isn’t old either, only about half of the church’s lifespan.

Maybe Russ will restore the common symbol of modern western Christianity with all his other grand gestures of rebranding. Angel Moroni is very much a Mormon symbol. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doesn’t really have a symbol to represent the Christ they want to portray.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.
