How in the bejeezus does it "establish credibility" to live in "Atlanta"?

Maybe only folks who live in po dunk towns like yours can explain this.

Read Elena Kagan’s dissent on gerrymandering

I fully agree with every point of Elena Kagan's dissent. This decision by the 5 conservatives on the Supreme Court removes any doubt I had in my mind that they have become little more than bought and paid for, cowardly tools of wealthy, conservative, corporate oligarchs. This bodes ill for the future of our democratic republic. This is every bit as poor a decision as the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission of 2010 that made it possible for wealthy corporate interests and their lobbyists to buy and fully own politicians for their own selfish agendas.

I agree.
republic
A democratic state or form of government in which the head of state is elected rather than holding hereditary office.

I can think of few things more asinine or ignorant than the insistance that the terms "republic" and "democracy" are mutually exclusive. Subby talks about tyranny of the majority and protecting minorities' rights, which is a perfectly valid concern, but it seems obvious to me that the minority rights he is most anxious to protect, are the rights of a despotic, conservative minority to dictate to or override a liberal, progressive majority (like what happened in the 2016 presidential election).
