I don't know. According to the Reuters article, "Rates of underage marriage are high in southern, rural states with a high prevalence of poverty and religious conservatism, as well as among Orthodox Jews, Muslims, Mormons, Sikhs and Hmongs"

Think before you post. The majority of Muslims live somewhere other than California. The percentage of Muslims in New Jersey is higher than in CA. And, while you’re quick to point out that not all American Jews marry children, you simply assume that all American Muslims marry children.

But there are more Muslims in California than in New Jersey. The large Muslim population in California is probably contributing a lot to the child marriage rates.

New Jersey had the second highest child marriage rate in the Northeast, but New Jersey did stop kissing ass in 2018. According to a Politico article, "almost 3,500 marriages involving at least one partner under 18 took place in New Jersey from 1995 to 2012. Of those, 163 involved at least one spouse 15 or younger. Most were religious arranged marriages."

Those underage marriages were primarliy in the - wait for it- New Jersey Haredi jewish community, not the Muslim one. And many in that community opposed the bill banning them, and held it up.
