When that group who rant on the Shades board knows exactly nothing about something, they are very confident that they have it all figured out.
They even confused Kerry Shirts once being involved with FairMormon with his being one of the dozen members of Skinny. Yesterday someone on the Shades board even boasted that Skinny leaks are fun to read.
There have never been any leaks, since there has never been anything to leak.
I guess Dr. Midgley forgot that dozens of email exchanges--all of which list their point of origin as the L-Skinny email list--are posted on SHIELDS? So, pretty much anyone with an Internet connection and a willingness to look, can have quite a clear sense of what happens on that email list.
Midgley wrote:All of this bit of mock wisdom without being able to guess the names of more than three people on Skinny, and not knowing if more than a very few were employed at BYU. And also not having even a slight idea of what was ever once posted on Skinny.
Midgley. Novak. Barker. Hamblin. Peterson. Shall I go on? I've already named "more than three people"..... Pretty weak, Dr. Midgley. You're going soft on us.
Elsewhere, Midgley makes commentary about his contact with Colvin's husband:
Midgley wrote:The one I assumed was the Stake President, since he was conducting the meeting in which two Wards were transformed into three Wards, came up to me and pointed to Dr. Nathan McCluskey, who happens to be Gina Colvin's husband, and he indicated that he wanted to meet me. In that mass of people I lost sight of him, but he spotted me and we instantly became friends. We had an interesting conversation and I came away with his card and a request that we stay in touch. End of story.
All of this has been garbled on Dr. Shades disgusting board.
Remember, this was Midgley's initial comment to Colvin, posted in full on the first post of this thread:

I know of only one Community of Christ congregation in New Zealand. It is located at 311 Glengary Road, Glen Eden, Auckland. A search does not turn up Community of Christ congregation in Christchurch. Would you please explain where this Community of Christ group meets in Christchurch and also how many there are in this group? I will, God willing, be in New Zealand in February, and might drop in to see your new venture, but I will need an address and so forth.
Creepy, no? And sure enough, he turned up in New Zealand, and claims that he "accidentally" bumped into Colvin's husband:
Midgley wrote:Self-Exiled: I did not "seek out Gina Colvin's husband." The Stake President approached me and pointed out her husband to me and told me that he wanted to meet me. Put bluntly so even an unusually dull ten year old should understand, Gina's husband wanted to meet me. And his Stake President was aware of this fact, as he was aware that our group would be there for a Sacrament meeting, which had actually included two Wards that had just been divided as we arrived.
I would like to see you point out anything remotely like a "personal attack" in anything I have published. Have a look at the essays I have published in Interpreter on the Maori Latter-day Saint historical narrative and try to identify anything like a so-called "personal attack."
In addition, I see everyone as potentially sanctified by the Holy Spirit and hence as, hopefully, eventually a Saint.
So, Midgley has gone from announcing to everyone that he plans to "visit" Colvin, including requesting the address of her congregation, and then, instead, showing up at her husband's ward (and bear in mind that her husband also divides his time as "a youth leader during the week" at the Anglican church: the husband is okay with their kids getting exposure to CoC, LDS, and Anglican experiences), to claiming that this was all some kind of "accident," or, wait: no--not an accident! Instead, it was Colvin's husband who wanted to meet *him*! Yeah: that's real believable. The story has holes all over it. First, why would the Stake President have known who Midgley was? Just because Midgley is "famous" or "important" for some reason? (Is he?) Second, why would Colvin's husband have told the Stake President that he wanted to "meet" Midgley? Was Midgley a "guest of honor" at this particular stake meeting? Third, why would Colvin's husband claim this:
Midgley wrote:I am also pleased to report that Nathan told me that both he and his wife have read everything that I have written about the Maori Latter-day Saint historical narrative. And he agrees with me, while she detests--he used the word hates--what I have written. If for no other reason, knowing this was well worth the expense and effort involved in my recent, and most likely, last visit to Aotearoa/New Zealand.
It was worth going clear to New Zealand just to hear that Gina Colvin "hates...what I have written"? Okay. Well, I guess that sums up everything that Midgley is all about. Unsurprising, but it says a lot about the nature of Mopologetics.
