Congressman Matt Goetz, showing what a big joke the COVID-19 virus was last week. This week someone in his district died, and Goetz himself has self-quarrantined.
Big effing joke, eh Matt?

We now have a second outbreak in an elder care facility. Three confirmed cases. New mandatory rules. One visitor at a time. No children. Visit in room only or other specially designated area. Exceptions for residents on their deathbed. If you bring the virus into an Elder Care facility, odds are you will kill somebody.

Many people in Brazil are pissed off because they're saying the government didn't disclose coronavirus cases because they didn't want to disrupt Carnival which began Feb 21st. And now it appears to be widespread. sigh

RI I watched with tears the account of the woman whose mother passed in the first care facility when in her grief, she pushed for phone contact for each patient with their family outside of the nursing homes so that they could safely quarantine and remain in touch, and acknowledge how overwhelmed the staff were in that case with a staff to patient ratio of 3:90. She had had staff call her in the morning or mid-day to give her an update on her mother--no symptoms, good temp. etc, --after she had already gotten word of her mother's passing in the middle of the night. That's how overwhelmed the staff was and it's just a good thing that this daughter was rational and understanding.
She had nothing but good things to say about and compassion for the staff. God bless her.

From Target in email today. Rationing that I mentioned previously, included.
A Note to Our Guests About the Coronavirus from CEO Brian Cornell Over the past few days, so many of you have been in our stores and on our website stocking up on all the essential things you need to keep your families healthy and safe.
I want you to know that your health and safety is our first priority, too.
We’ve always taken great pride in our clean and well-run stores, and we know this is more important than ever right now. On top of our daily cleaning procedures, we’re adding hours to each store’s payroll to make our routines even more rigorous. This means more time will be spent cleaning our stores, including cleaning surfaces like checklanes and touchscreens at least every 30 minutes. Like many others, we’re taking guidance from the CDC, which recommends regular cleaning as one of the most important preventive measures we can take. And, out of an abundance of caution, we’ve temporarily stopped food sampling in our stores.
We’re also staffing up our teams to support in-demand services like Order Pickup and Drive Up.
And of course, we’re committed to taking care of our team. For weeks, we’ve provided them with up-to-the-moment guidance and information so they can keep themselves and their families safe. We’re encouraging sick team members to stay home and asking our teams to travel only if it’s business critical. And, to help support our team in real-time, we’ve set up a forum where we’re sharing information and taking questions 24/7.
Speaking of our team, they are working around the clock to make sure that the products you want are available when you need them. As demand for cleaning products, medicine, pantry stock-up items and more remains high, we’re sending more products to our stores as quickly as possible. And this weekend, we started to limit the number of key items per purchase, which will allow more guests to get what they need.
At the center of our company’s purpose is a commitment to help all families, and it’s something we take to heart in good times and bad. This is why we’ll be working hard to keep our stores open so we can be there to support you and your families.

When last I looked we had 15 cases in the state. Still only one in El Paso County. Our health department officials did a live press briefing which I thought covered the issues very well. The one person in our county was a 40-ish year old male who traveled back from Cali. By air--so yeah. When he developed symptoms he did everything right, called his medical, self quarantined immediately. He is currently self quarantined with his family at home. They discussed that they are tracking his possible contacts. Apparently Colorado has 600K N95 masks on hand in it's warehouse. The advice was typical of what we've heard from other sources.
Stores, including Target as mentioned above, are rationing out desired supplies by limits per customer.
From what I am sleuthing online I see that most supplies will be back in stock on or around 15 March--or a few days later in some cases. With limits per customer, I think that bodes well for our community in terms of preparedness and I am sure this is reflected in other communities across the country.

When the pandemic began in January the World Health Organization began providing tens of thousands of test kits to more than 60 countries but the USA inexplicably declined their offer. Why? To this day no explanation has been provided by the administration. It seems as though someone saw an opportunity to profit off of this and so why accept free test kits from the WHO when you cane use this opportunity to funnel money to your favorite pharmaceutical sponsor so they can produce their own kits. I mean, who cares if there is a delay in testing during the most crucial early stages of a pandemic, right?

Thanks I hadn't read about this yet. What Carlin called the owners of the country want to make a buck off our despair.
Our state expects to have drive through testing facilities up and running by Friday of this week, starting in Denver with results in 24-48 hours. If you go any other route it's a matter of days for the results. I listened to the health department live press conference earlier and feel that we're in good hands here given the situation.

Florida man spent night in Walmart park lot after potentially infecting the leader of the free world with coronavirus
Days after wearing a gas mask on the floor of the House of Representatives to mock concerns over COVID-19 coronavirus, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has continued to stay in the news about the incident.
Following his gas mask stunt, one of his constituents died from the virus. Then, Gaetz potentially infected President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One, after he was in contact with somebody who tested positive for the virus.
Gaetz then said he would self-quarantine for 14 days.
He spoke to the Pensacola News Journal about his experience with quarantining.
“I couldn’t stay in a hotel,” Gaetz told the newspaper.
“I slept in a Walmart parking lot somewhere off (Interstate) 85,” he explained.
