Re: Life Under Coronavirus
I have an ongoing art project in my backyard I’m doing. Thanks to the coronas I made substantial progress yesterday because, you know, social distancing and self-quarantining and whatnot.
Today we braved a grocery store run after the earthquakes. A TON of people were out getting gas and making another run on the stores. I wonder how many people got the coronas today because, and Im serious here, the power was out and they were startled? Also, bonus fun times, a rumor got started locally that a 9.0 was going to hit within “an hour or so” and man, that crap circulated FAST. The evil government had an evil scientist come out and calm the panicked population. in my opinion, this just goes to show you we need to gut the government further because had a 9.0 occurred it just shows you the average citizen knows best.

On my way to Walmart pharm to try the drive through service. Hopefully observing the needed precautions. Feels a little crazy trying to figure this stuff out but I'm giving it my best shot!
:-)
Okay so I'm going to admit that I did a big stupid. First know, that I took annual classes in universal precautions and first aid, and epidemiology was part of my coursework so that makes me feel even stupider. But, I'm not too embarrassed to show how in times like these, you can forget all you know and just act on fear.
I said I was going to wear gloves to the drive through and put my card in a ziploc so I didn't have to touch much of anything, right? The gloves weren't a horrible idea but the card in the ziploc thing was totally a non-thinking move on my part...I'm in the middle of the transaction when I said to myself "How stupid are you?"
Because...whoever touched the card, touched the ziploc bag when they took it out and put it back in.

I just pulled out my card, sanitized it and went on my merry way. All I really needed was the hand sanitizer to do everything--the transaction and pump gas.
IDIOT.
While I was waiting for the meds to come through the tube system, a man walked out with groceries and was loading them up in the car in the other lane. I noticed he had one of those large packs of VIVA paper towels so I asked him what it was like in the store and did they have toilet paper. He said they had toilet paper and of course the paper towels but they were limiting one per customer. He yanks out the toilet paper and it's one of those old time generic 4 packs. Still, it's good to know that this happened hours after the store was opened and they did still have some stock. I didn't question him further than that.

First evidence of FEMA or DOD action in my area: a ball field being designated as a field hospital site. I doubt it’s the only one.

Please stop sending me messages about the virus. It's in my face every second I'm online and I don't like feeling stressed out about it.
And now I'm block her messages. I had deleted her entire message history and this is the one I needed to use my phone to block her in messenger. Hoping this works as instructed!
ETA: It works!
Keep in mind that the above happened yesterday.
Retraction. It doesn't work. Apparently it only works for messenger on the phone? I dunno. Just a few minutes ago she sent me ANOTHER CV related stupid idiotic whatever it was--joke thing or something on Facebook messenger. Here was my response:
I already asked you to stop sending me these things. Please stop it.
She removed the message. So far as I am concerned that's the second strike. One more time and I'm Facebook blocking the crap out of her. Basta!
ETA: I just found the way to block them on Facebook messenger ON the Facebook blocking options.

I now have a dry cough different from my other cough and, not quite a sore throat, but a feeling that it's a little raw? Here's to hoping I'm not hospitalized.

Still can't get a test, incidentally. I'm hearing from the hospital word of mouth that it is even harder to get one than it was before. I very much feel the advise I'm getting when I call is to cross my fingers and come in if I'm dying.

How are you both feeling and is there any chance you could just show up and tell them you feel like your dying? What do you think would happen if you do that?
ETA: Just read your above.

Do either of you have inhalers on hand? Wondering if that would help.
Decongestants? Salt water rinses? Cough drops? Drinking glasses of warm water? Anything helping at all?

I don't know for sure. I'd think they'd triage me, see my numbers are Ok, and send me home to quarantine until they're not. I doubt I'm getting any medications and there's not much else they can do for you. Tests are being rationed for the severely ill.
I've only done triage over the phone where they gave me advise on how to isolate and told me to only seek attention if I have severe shortness of breath.

For me? It's just a tingly sensation in my throat that makes me cough every few min coupled with a sensation that's not right, but isn't painful. I'm pretty damn worried I'm going to be in the poor outcome group, though.
ETA: More like every min now that I think about it. It's not oppressive. Just persistent.
