I didn’t know whether or not to file this one under the ‘Dumbest Trump Comments’ thread or this one:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... bases.html
tl;dr - Trump tweeted that Republicans Senators wouldn’t side with Democrats with regard to renaming military installations after they already did so. The day before.

Yeah, good luck with that.

I'm not a journalist, but I value good journalism. And I believe in it.

Brand new Twitter account? Not following anyone?EAllusion wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 3:24 pmhttps://Twitter.com/TheWholeStory6/stat ... 5800793088
Lol. Who could've seen that coming except people familiar with the last 300 years or so of history? It's only their hilarious insignificance that is likely preventing a reign of terror from happening in, like, a couple of weeks.
(The left-wingers attempting to set up an autonomous zone in Seattle are forming crude, factional government-like organization. This includes self-declared police force. That police force is then proceeding to violate rights like our actual police force.)
Lots of misinformation is being spread about CHAZ. There are lots of tweets by people who go there to see what’s up. Check out Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone on Twitter to get a general flavor. But be cautious with new accounts that have popped up, misspelled hashtags, etc.
by the way, I knew Portland would be jealous. The copycats.

You are 100% correct, Honor. The barricade has become a flash point. Police and citizens were being injured. Rather than wade into the nightly crowd and make mass arrests, a terrible idea because of COVID-19, the mayor and police chief deescalated by removing the point of contention. A neighborhood that has been subjected to a weak of tear gas, pepper bombs, flash bangs, thrown objects, huge crowds, etc. has returned to near normal. The City government is doing what it always does, and Capitol Hill, which has always been quirky, has one more work.honorentheos wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 4:37 pmNo. It was to disengage from a location where tensions had been rapidly escalating including use of tear gas, a shooting, etc. It was a responsible move where contact between protestors and police was making things worse.
Contrary to how it seems portrayed on Twitter, the City is still providing services such as the fire department and 911 to residents inside the zone.
But, there is a context. Guys like Andy Ngo hate anything that remotely looks like Antifa, and will post completely fake crap. You have to be more careful than usual to check out Twitter accounts. I find its best To read accounts of locals who’ve gone and checked it out. I think I may do that myself this weekend. But so far, nobody has their Pantones in a twist except the paranoid right.
If problems arise, the police could clear it out in less than an hour. But for now, I think they’re smart to keep an eye on it and go about business as usual.

Yes. Doc is cherry picking sensational tweets. I showed how he got punked by a known liar (at least around here). But what he’s posting is in no way close to an accurate portrayal of what’s going on in the zone. Because of some very motivated individual, isolated tweets are a poor source unless you take the time to investigate the account.honorentheos wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 11:58 pmOne of the keys to approaching sources like Twitter appropriately is knowing you are bringing your own perspective and biases into reading others personal experiences so what you are reading is a new creation; their experience filtered through your perspective.
