That's not a "metric buttload." Your prior claim involved a much, much larger number, specifically "hundreds of thousands." That can be described as a "metric buttload", but that was pure dishonesty. Given how you're using words, it'd be hard to not read this as a reiteration of that claim.

The scale at which Republicans in general and Trump specifically are attempting to suppress ballot access is not a "both sides" thing, and it's an extreme false equivalence to compare efforts of the Gore campaign in 2000 to get a few hundred overseas ballots thrown out on a legal technicality (in the context of a legal skirmish over all sorts of ballot technicalities) with attempting to crush ballot access via expanded voting by mail generally in the middle of a pandemic. They are not similar in scale or kind.

Eh. I was wrong or arguing just to argue. That still doesn’t negate Democrats attempting to throw out tens of thousands of absentee ballots:

Weird how EA’s memory of the Democrats’ malfeasance seems to be as wonky as my November 2000 hot take that hundreds of thousands of military ballots were being targeted by Democrats.

It wasn't just some arbitrary decision to throw out ballots for the hell of it, there was actually a legal argument made for that given the way Republicans had contaminated them. Its been 20 years but I remember Democrats were also against recounts in Florida because they only wanted to do recounts in heavily Republican areas, which would produce more Republican votes, whereas the Democrat argument was that if we're going to do recounts then we need to recount everywhere. Republicans were against that. The election of 2000 was pretty screwed up in that it proved just how fragile our election system is. Recounting led to different results. How is that even possible? This is why I think everything should be mandatory and done electronically by each person's assigned SS#.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 12:38 amEh. I was wrong or arguing just to argue. There is a huge, active, well-funded and desperate enemy of democracy in the White House, who wants to diminish voting by poor and minority ethnic people as much as he can, and by all possible means, including eliminating mail-in voting wherever he can.
Let us direct our fire in that direction, rather than at positions which may or may not have been occupied by other people in the past.

I agree. I’d imagine if any politician would attempt to roll back mail-in voting he or she would be rolled right out of office. This is one of those things people have become accustomed to and can generally agree that it’s a good thing regardless of political affiliation.

Doc is in Utah. Utah's mail-in voting is safe. The idea isn't to eliminate mail in voting. It's to eliminate it in areas and demographics likely to vote Democrat. This requires broad-brushed attacks on the practice, but there's a wink and a nod with it, which is why the practice is common among Trump and his top officials. It was a couple of months ago that Republicans were counter-proposing to Democrats universal vote by mail assistance for anyone over 65.
There's a lot of internal disagreement among Republicans, but they're very much on the same page that voting for Democrats should be made as hard as possible.

Another area where liberals seem to have melded with the libertarian position is hating Woodrow Wilson. 15 years ago when I might tell someone that Wilson was one of, if not my least, favorite President in no small part due to his horrific racial legacy ordinary Democrat types would look at me cock-eyed. He had a reputation of being in the second tier of "near Great" presidents.
Despising Wilson has come into vogue among liberals now.
