Had my first post-virus teeth cleaning. Full gowns, mask, face shield. Instead of the minty antibiotic pre-rinse, there was an iodine-based, bitter tasting rinse. Better anti-viral action, it was said. The saliva extractor has a little soft plastic dam that helps reduce aerosolization. Still used the ultrasonic plaque remover. That’s it.
I had one recently as well. Similar experience. The rooms were all independently ventilated with the main air being shut off. The saliva extractor was not used in preference for using cups of water to rinse and spit if needed. I just need the regular hand tools, so I'm not sure if the ultrasonic is available or not. I would have refused if offered.
I was due for full x-rays, which resulted in my going through a wrapped room to a person in something that looked like a hazmat suit that made me feel like I was living in full quarantine with an exotic disease.
I have a fancy dentist for fancy people, though. I'm not sure what mere plebs are doing.
Our governor who has been working his butt off to try to get people to wear masks and posted this on his Facebook page last week:

The emerging scientific data is clear: wearing a mask doesn’t only protect others, it also significantly reduces your own risk of getting Coronavirus. So if you’re a selfish bastard and wearing a mask to protect others isn’t enough of a reason to do so, then maybe protecting yourself is?
Just issued a state order to make masks mandatory. I flippin' all out love this man!
I know you’ve left us behind (!just kidding) but you would be proud of your old State. Virtually everywhere, in every store and even on the sidewalks, everyone wears masks, at least in my experience. (People lose their minds when they go “down the Shore,” so please note I am not referring to any spaces within literal eyesight of actual ocean. ; ))) )
A cute and tiny toddler on my block was out with his family for a walk the other evening. As he pranced by, I noticed he was wearing the most adorable Pokémon face mask ever. It warmed my heart. This is getting harder and harder to deal with, so little experiences like that really help.
I've seen stills and footage from Seaside. People are nuts. I know they're thinking ocean breezes will be protective but tell that to Miami, okay? Jersey and the Tri-state coalition has done a tremendous job IMHO. The way I look at it, Jersey, NY and CT basically decided to put their wagons in a circle and the effort produced results. I have a concern for a couple of relatives up in North Jersey but there's nothing I can do to help from out here so...prayer and keeping in touch (and watching the numbers) all I really have to offer.
I don't go out a lot but I have been inside Walmart and also Hobby Lobby. I'd say that mask wearers, including children, are at about 90%. A child in my family has fabulous age appropriate masks. :-) The gov just state mandated mask wearing so I expect to see some uprising over that over the weekend. Our numbers are slowly ticking upwards--so I am in full agreement with the order and only wish he had done it in conjunction with lifting restrictions which would have made far more sense to me.
I assume the casinos in AC are closed? I hope so...

Here in and around Tahoe City, CA virtually everyone is masked up, social distancing is being taken semi-seriously, but there's a definite fatalism when talking about the spread. As per Jersey Girl's request a few pictures:

Oh GOD. I already looked up the trail when I saw your other post. Thank you SO much! That one with the rocks that looks like a natural gap or drain--is that alongside the trail or did you guys have to go up that?
Thank you again! You have no idea how much I appreciate it! The kids are up in the mountains this weekend and I'm stuck in my forest. Which is a nice place to be stuck, but still...

Afterthought-- I have GOT to get up in the mountains in September when the Aspens turn. I'll just die if I don't. Even if I'm safer at home...fack this stuff.

Since folks were reporting on dental experiences...I just made a long overdue hygiene appointment. I've been getting emails the entire time about their COVID updates and my dentist actually has a youtube video showing what their precautions look like in practice. When you arrive you stay in your car and call in. They keep the building locked unless someone is coming and going with an escort. They opted for washable gowns instead of disposable that they are laundering on site, using masks, shields, gloves, hair bonnets and shoe booties in the clinic. Similar to what RI mentioned earlier, patients use a special mouth rinse and wash their hands before entering their suite.
When I made the call today, I asked a couple of questions. There are 3 patients in the building at any given time (we'll see) and yes, they can use their lasers which is a procedure I know I will need. Still not using ultrasonic equipment which is entirely understandable. I'm going to try their Nu Calm process this time because I think I could use a little woo in my life right now. :-)
It's possible that I can take an appointment tomorrow but otherwise, I'm scheduled for mid-September which is how far out the schedule is right now due to pandemic limitations. Will report back on that. We could be in lock down again by that date.

Somewhere on this un-searchable board I mentioned that I was gonna cut my hair off and then made an appointment for this Tuesday to do just that. Well, I confess that last night I took a scissor to my head again and whacked off a good bit of my hair.
That's probably the fourth time I've cut it myself and I've always done a good job right up until...last night. I decided I would experiment with a couple of techniques...and I really screwed it up!
In my defense, I cannot get a good hold of my hair in the back to cut it short enough. So the back remains somewhat longer than the sides. I did cut in more layers to soften the blow but it's REALLY messed up now. I'm currently concealing the evidence of my wrong doing in a pony!
And Trump needs to shut up his face or I'll be totally bald by Tuesday!
