And we are supposed to believe that Gee is fluent enough in Turkish that he knows what this says....
Gee is obviously just assuming since he and Kerry are cited, then its a supportive cite and definitely supports the Book of Abraham. Literally EVERY Egyptologist who has ever read these two clowns disagrees with them. How come this guy is more valid in Gee's mind? Because he cites them in a scholarly source? So does Ritner! And it's not a kindly citation Ritner gives, so how does Gee know this one is?

Examples of similar hydrocephalus Vienna AS23 a/1 Turin cat no. 2322 Turin cat no. 2321 have a boat with "scarab (kheper) beetle" which " was one of the most popular amulets in ancient Egypt because the insect was a symbol of the sun god Re. This association evolved from the Egyptians' misunderstanding of the scarab's life cycle. An adult beetle lays its eggs inside a ball of dung, which is then buried underground"
The sketch has the figurein the middle missing but in the published version Smith simply copied what was above the two headed god. In numerous examples the figure in the middle has multiple heads.

You can be sure that if one of John Gee's students made the same kind of error while attempting to recreate and restore a lacuna from a damaged Egyptian vignette that Gee would have intervened and corrected the student. Had the student put the wrong animal head on a god then Gee would have corrected that too. The hypocrisy coming from Gee in defending Smith's errors is incredibly obvious and his blatant misuse of his title of PhD is a black mark on today's Egyptology. World Egyptologists have a responsibility to step forward and censor the rogue Egyptologists at BYU and until they do the profession represented at BYU is left unchecked.
So far, Robert Ritner is the only Egyptologist with the courage and fortitude to step forward and make formal corrections to what is happening at BYU. It's time for the world body of Egyptologists to go after BYU and cut the cord and make public statements against what the Mormon Church has done to pervert Egyptology in the name of credentialed academics. It's time for Egyptologists to stand up for Anubis and declare that black lives really do matter. The racist Mormons are guilty and have no choice other than to correct their ways or suffer further accusations that will embarrass their institution.
Is there a link online to the hit piece Gee wrote about Ritner's book? The one in the struggling journal, without peer review, which was later retracted.

I don't know but Philo Sofee probably does or can find out in a snap. Someone should compile a list of John Gee's most perverted statements and publish them on the Internet or link to them. There needs to be an intervention of some kind. Gee has to be stopped because he's using his PhD to feed the Mormons perverted Egyptology. It's malpractice! It's not just a matter of free speech or free ideas but deliberate malpractice using a PhD
Doesn't appear to be in any of the obvious places online.
This abstract from an article published in a previous edition shows Gee in form, sneaking in a temple sealing motif to the body of Egyptian scholarship.
Gee wrote:A grammatically difficult phrase involving a seal and occurring in Book of the Dead 31 and 69 has been interpreted in a variety of ways. The phrase derives from Coffin Text 227 and refers to the practice discussed in Coffin Texts 131-135,136-142, and 146. The texts are discussed in the light of sealing practices of the Middle Kingdom. Attempts to connect Coffin Texts 131-142 with providing food and shabtis are shown to miss the mark; all of the texts deal with the reuniting of the family after death. The missing object of the verb xtm in the Book of the Dead passages is wD “decree.”
