Patients denied transplants for refusing Covid vaccine

A patient in dire need of a kidney transplant was told that if she and her donor refuse the Covid vaccine, she will be denied the procedure. Dr. Sanjay Gupta explains that vaccines help survival.

The vaccine? The booster? Nah, dawg. I’m good. I just read on 4chan:

- can't damned wait till they are all dead

- If they do end up dying en masse, I apologize to Bill Gates and the rest of Bilderberg for all the crap I've talked about them. They will truly be deserving of their station in life.

- I want all liberals to die, the Bible says 2 billion will die, which is basically the exact number of mRNA vaccinated
So on and so forth.

I think anyone 20lbs overweight shouldn't be allowed to get a transplant! If they're so lazy that they can't control their weight, let's give the organ to someone more responsible. Same for people who have ever smoked or drank alcohol. If they can't take care of their body they shouldn't receive an organ transplant.

How's my PROGRESSIVISM coming along? Am I sounding cruel enough to be a whiny PROGRESSIVE yet?

I know you're just memeing here but the things you list absolutely can and should prevent you from receiving a transplant. The responsibility of those selecting viable patients for transplant is first and foremost to the person (and by extension their family) who donated the organ. It is a precious gift and testament to the crazy advances we've made as a society that we can do this.

They will absolutely pass you over for drug and alcohol consumption or not following prescribed protocol of your doctor (which I have seen include not following dietary restrictions). The post transplant regime is very tough and any indication that you won't execute on it is a big no-no.

There are simply too few organs to spare to hand them out to just anyone.

This is the reality we have to mitigate, so yeah, I agree that we should be very selective about who gets one of those precious organs.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.

Yeah. And we can judge because we know everything about everybody every day.
I don't trust myself to judge the scenario. But the reality is we've put trained medical personnel in place to help ensure the highest success rate for transplants. They seem to think that being unwilling to follow medical advice on vacations is worthy of keeping you off the list and I don't see why I should reject their guidance now.

Are they going to get it right in all instances? Nope. But I've seen it work right enough times in my life to let those professionals do their thing.

My SIL's brother just passed due to Covid. He was very typical of the right-wing crowd posting antivaccine stuff on his Facebook page. One of his last posts was from the hospital wishing he would've taken the vaccine.

Not a pretty death for him.

"We" are not judging anything. As you say, the decision is in the hands of trained medical professionals with access to patient information. Who else should make such decisions? There is a shortage of organs for transplant, so - surprise! - they pick patients who offer the best prospects of of the transplant succeeding. And being less likely to suffer from a dangerous disease like COVID-19 is an obvious factor in such decisions.

As ever, Cultellus is just trying to misdirect and distract. What a waste of his time ...
