Is King Pharaoh included in the history courses at BYU?

No. Brigham Young University is a school that brainwashes their students and the Egyptologists paid by that school are men of no conscience or dignity and live by the spirit of lying. That is what they do. History will not be kind to them. The WORLD knows about the Book of Abraham and there is nothing the Church can do to save or vindicate the lies. Lying and Mormonism go hand in hand and the spirit of lying continuously generates it.

None of the leaders of the Church today or in the past have had the least degree of intelligence or wit in which to answer the following statement given to the world as a witness that Mormonism is a lie and all of Mormonism has been duped.

*THAT* is a lie. I know it. Everyone else knows it. The Mormons know it. Their prophets know it. But Mormons love to lie and living in those lies is what they crave. It is a spectacle the whole world may readily observe. How utterly fascinating to watch people addicted to lying and they cannot stop. They just keep lying over and over. They are addicted to lying! It is fascinating to watch.

The future will permit many great discussions and hopefully meetings between us! Although for now I need to make sure that I have a future 🙏💯❤️

Here’s to hoping you get better.

I just published my first little podcast and have a thread in the Terrestrial forum that provides the link. It’s only 13 minutes long and is soft spoken and pleasantly discusses Facsimile No. 3 from an angle you may not have fully considered. Sit back and watch it and just relax.

Shulem's first Book of Abraham PODCAST!
Nice, I’ll check that out!

Let me just say that prior to the publication of the Book of Abraham in 1842, the Latter-day Saints thoroughly believed that Joseph Smith could translate Egyptian hieroglyphs where ever they might be found. They need not be subject to the collection which was purchased in Kirtland. The saints believed Smith could translate hieroglyphs anywhere in the world. I now present a startling new example that fully demonstrates that the saints believed Smith could have simply gone to Egypt, enter a king’s tomb and literally translate characters carved on the walls or inscribed on the very coffin of the king himself. Smith could have rendered the name of any mummy by simply reading the characters on the coffin. The following example is proof that Smith was hailed by the Church as a literal Egyptian translator for the whole world.

Joseph Smith Papers wrote:On 5 September 1840, apostles Brigham Young and Willard Richards wrote from Manchester, England, to the First Presidency in Nauvoo, Illinois, regarding the apostles’ mission to England. Richards had been serving there since he arrived with fellow apostle Heber C. Kimball in July 1837, and Young had arrived only five months before writing this letter, on 6 April 1840. ... The version of the letter featured here was inscribed by Richards, but Young, as the senior apostle and first signatory, may have been the primary author.

Letter from Brigham Young and Willard Richards, 5 September 1840

“We have lately visited a museum, where we saw an E Mummy, on the head stone &c are many ancient & curious characters & we asked the privilege of copyig them for translation but have not receivd an answer, yet, Shall we copy them & send them to you for translation?”

Brigham Young is asking Joseph Smith if they should send a copy of Egyptian hieroglyphic writing from the British museum in order for Smith to translate it and reveal the message of the content thereof. Young believed that Smith could give a translation of curious characters on a head stone and provide a translation that was written for that particular mummy. This serves as absolute proof that Brigham Young believed Smith could literally translate Egyptian hieroglyphics and that the translations later given for Facsimile No. 3 were literal translations for the persons in the scene.

So, what do you think of that Philo? Are you still there? This is a very important example to show exactly what the saints (especially Brigham Young) thought of Smith’s ability to literally translate leading right up to the very publication of the Book of Abraham and the literal translations of Facsimile No. 3. I’m afraid the mountain of evidence against Joseph Smith’s ability to translate forever buries any chance the church can save the Book of Abraham. We can be sure that had Brigham Young brought back those characters for Smith to translate we would have been provided another song and dance from Smith as he pretends to translate another fictitious story.

More royal names for Smith to translate

We are assured that all of the apostles believed Joseph Smith could translate any Egyptian papyrus no matter where it came from. Imagine the possibilities!

Joseph Smith Papers wrote:“Manuscript History of the Church” October 28, 1840

“We have visited the British Museum which contains a vast number and quantity of Egyptian Sepulchres, Mummies, Hieroglyphics, and Papyrus, the history and account of which we feel much interested in, and may forward you an account of the same in a future communication. We subscribe ourselves your brethren in the everlasting Covenant. H.C. Kimball, W. Woodruff, G.A. Smith.”

Joseph Smith was already on record or known to fish alleged royal family names out of the very papyrus he had in his own possession. The brethren believed Smith could decipher the Egyptian names and find out what the account meant. So, acquiring more papyri to Smith’s acquisitions would serve to allow him to produce even more fantastic stories about king’s, princes, and princesses inscribed in papyri for which he claims to translate by the gift and power of God. The sky’s the limit!

King Onitis from the Valuable Discovery Notebook has a latter-day namesake in the Prophet Onitis from the Under the Banner of Heaven mini-series on Hulu.

Do you think Smith would have been aware that the hypocephalus was not unique that there were many others with the same registers?

Absolutely, positively NOT! Under Smith’s tutelage it was claimed the hypocephalus was a sacred document of Abraham’s time and was a record attesting to the nature of one God and temple rites had in Mormonism. The document was said to be unique to Abraham. In addition, Smith had no clue to what the hieroglyphic writing said:
  • He could not read it.
  • He could not translate it.
  • He could not decipher it, period.
In Facsimile No. 3, he failed to recognize the personage of Isis and that her label above the head was NOT a mortal king’s name. Smith failed to understand that the vignette was a heavenly scene and everyone in it was dead!

The alterations and additions Smith made to his damaged hypocephalus were not just done in an ignorant and unprofessional manner but were intended to woo his followers into thinking he knew how to properly put pieces of the Egyptian puzzle into their rightful place. So, you see, it’s not just that he got it all wrong but he intentionally sought to deceive others into believing he knew what he was doing. Such is the work of a con artist!

I so testify.

Failing to ascertain the correct sex for two of the characters in this facsimile (Isis and Maat) would suggest that Joseph put very little effort into observing the papyri. Even young BYU students could make this distinction.

I don’t think we can compare the life experiences of 19th century rural folk with that of 21st century educated students who have been introduced to a variety of international ancient forms of art. Modern students see thousands of images on the Internet, books, journals, etc., and will easily recognize the sex of Isis and Maat. Even children who know little about ancient Egypt will be able to make the connection based on life experiences. But 19th century men who are less acquainted with ancient customs and form may not easily tell the difference and may assume it was customary dress for men in ancient Egypt.

So if Joseph were to find himself in ancient Egypt, he would be uncertain about who to hit on?
