Hawkeye,

What was the point of your giant copy-paste?
media uses this as an opportunity to bludgeon and blame anyone who believes that marriage means one man/one woman
Can you point out from your material where the "media" did this?

As for the "crazies" out there, well guess what? There's going to be even more welfare queen kids now that abortions are illegal in states like yours.

Your gun rights nonsense is nonsense only punctuated by your own lack of gun ownership. But think about it: even if the ratio is as low as 1 crazy per 99 sane people, it still makes sense to get rid of guns altogether because the crazy person has the element of surprise. If the crazy person can get a gun -- and if it were up to Clarence Thomas, felons would have guns also -- then 99 sane people have to also get guns for protection. As you ease the laws so that more and more crazies get access, it's your own vile doing that seemingly forces you to buy guns for self protection (even though it usually doesn't work, which is probably why even though you're a raging hypocrite, you still have the good sense not to arm yourself).

So basically, some crazy welfare queen and an absentee father get a no fault divorce and raise a crazy kid that commits an unspeakable crime. And in response the media uses this as an opportunity to bludgeon and blame anyone who believes that marriage means one man/one woman, don't want their grade school age kids indoctrinated in homosexuality, thinks transgender athletes shouldn't be competing in women's sports, and that American citizens should be able to legally own firearm for self defense.

“DCP” wrote: By now, you may be aware of the fact that Anderson Lee Aldrich, formerly known as Nicholas Brink, who assaulted Club Q in Colorado Springs a few days ago, is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

When a certain small population of online critics of the Church that I enjoy watching learned of his membership, they were overjoyed. They immediately blamed President Dallin H. Oaks and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and even the late Elder Neal A. Maxwell. (Please see my Meridian Magazine article “Elder Holland: What They Heard is Not What He Said.”) One expressed his hope that President Oaks is “proud” of his role in the Colorado Springs atrocity and salivated at the prospect of a lawsuit by survivors against President Oaks and the Church. The Brethren, others suggested, should finally stop their preaching of hate and fear.

I’m going to go out on a limb here, though: The evidence doesn’t seem to suggest that Anderson Lee Aldrich is the kind of person whose life is governed by his careful reading of the words of the apostles and prophets:

Newsweek: “Colorado Suspect Anderson Aldrich’s Links to Mormon Church Explained”

MSN: “Mormon church confirms the Colorado Springs shooter was a member”

“LDS officials condemn nightclub shooting, say suspect was not active in church”

“Details are coming to light about the alleged gunman who killed five people at an LGBTQ nightclub”

The Washington Post: “LGBTQ club shooting suspect’s troubled past was obscured by a name change, records show: After suffering online bullying as a boy, Anderson Lee Aldrich altered his identity, documents confirm”
He wasn’t a *real* Mormon. He was just an *inflate the numbers* Mormon.
Who here was overjoyed?

Let's see. A club full of people just out to enjoy themselves. Right wing politicians and media politicians demonizing those people over and over and over. Mentally unbalanced person goes into the club armed with an assault rifle, murdering five people and wounding many others with high velocity ammo that does unspeakable damage to the human body.

And Ajax is the victim.

Report: Colorado Gay Nightclub Shooting Suspect Identifies as Non-Binary, Uses ‘They/Them’ Pronouns

Anderson Lee Aldrich, the suspect who allegedly shot and killed five people and wounded at least 18 others over the weekend at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado, identifies as non-binary and uses “they/them” pronouns, according to a court filing on Tuesday night.

Aldrich, 22, is facing multiple murder and hate crime charges stemming from last weekend’s shooting.

However, Aldrich’s public defender revealed that Aldrich is “nonbinary” and uses “they/them pronouns,” the New York Times reported. In addition to the pronouns, Aldrich is referred to as “Mx. Aldrich” in the court filings.

“Anderson Aldrich is nonbinary,” a footnote in the filing states. “They use they/them pronouns, and for the purposes of all formal filings, will be addressed as Mx. Aldrich.”

The news about Aldrich’s gender identity came after Democrats and members of the corporate press politicized the shooting and blamed Republicans for the tragedy.

For example, NBC’s Ben Collins claimed that “Republican politicians” and the “internet’s far-right machine” targeted LGBTQ+ individuals in the months leading up to the nightclub shooting.

“But I think we have to have a come-to-Jesus moment here as reporters,” Collins told MSNBC. “Are we more afraid of being on Breitbart for saying that trans people deserve to be alive, or are we more afraid of the dead people? Because I’m more afraid of the dead people.”

Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) blasted Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert as a “bigot” who motivated the shooter shortly after Boebert issued a statement condemning the violence in her home state.

“.@laurenboebert you have played a major role in elevating anti-LGBT+ hate rhetoric and anti-trans lies while spending your time in Congress blocking even the most common sense gun safety laws,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “You don’t get to ‘thoughts and prayers’ your way out of this. Look inward and change.”

“Dehumanizing rhetoric leads to dehumanizing actions, which quickly translates to violence, shootings, assaults, and worse,” Cortez added in an Instagram post about Boebert.

Aldrich is set to make a virtual court appearance from jail on Wednesday, the Denver Post reported.

Which drag queen and what action did she take?
A father and a drag performer managed to subdue a gunman who opened fire at an LGBT nightclub in the US state of Colorado, it has emerged.
The attacker killed five people and left 17 others with injuries at Club Q in Colorado Springs on Saturday night.
Officials named the "heroes" who halted the attack as Richard Fierro and Thomas James, without detailing their actions.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-63698165
"One of the performers was walking by and I told her kick him," he said. "And she took her high heel and stuffed it in his face."
Mr Fierro said one of the dead included his daughter's boyfriend, 22-year-old Raymond Vance.
Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers hailed the bystanders' "incredible act of heroism".
Retired U.S. Army Major Richard Fierro took the shooter down by pulling on his acu vest, while he had him down, he grabbed the shooter's pistol and began beating the shooter with it. Fierro ordered another bystander to kick the shooter in the face. A drag queen joined the effort by stomping him with her heels.

There were three people involved in taking down the shooter. The story you used above isn't entirely accurate. Had you used the link I provided on this thread, you would have seen that.

I realize that you are using this tragedy to criticize the LDS church. I realize that DCP is using the tragedy to counter criticism.

I encourage you not to lose sight of the fact that the deceased and injured are real people who live in a real town with real residents who are SICK over this. Everywhere I look on local news and social media, there is a consistent outcry. The people here and those involved don't give one single damn about the shooter's religious history. They care that human life was lost in our town and that the only thing the deceased and injured are guilty of is going out for a night of socializing and entertainment in a place that has been a feature of the town for 20 years, and one that they thought was a safe space for them. LGBTQ and straight alike.

All three persons who subdued the shooter are heroes. Every single person who was on the premises are victims of trauma including the heroes, some suffering loss beyond words, and all sensing the loss of their personal safety and security. Even though they are being offered free mental health services by some good and qualified people in the area, this town will likely never feel quite the same for them nor will it likely feel the same to those of us who are residents in this diverse community.

As for your criticism here:

I find it interesting that DCP writes in a way that dehumanises and minimises the senseless tragedy that cost 5 people their lives and many others were injured, saying simply it was an "assault on Club Q". No mention of the victims. No mention of the heroics from a drag queen that likely saved countless more lives.
I invite you to read your OP again.

Thanks Hawkeye,

Let's get this straight: you went on a rant and pasted a wall of text, and the wall of text had nothing to do with your accusations, and so you went looking for something that did? Do I have that right?

No better place than Breitbart:
For example, NBC’s Ben Collins claimed that “Republican politicians” and the “internet’s far-right machine” targeted LGBTQ+ individuals in the months leading up to the nightclub shooting.
Getting warmer, except that you haven't actually provided Collins actual words. Breitbart is doing an awful lot of filling in blanks here. Since all they have is this one example, you'd think they can provide an entire quote.

It seems to me that for an issue like this, we can count on the unhinged right to quickly blame the left for blaming the right before the left has actually blamed the right yet.

I don’t disagree with Dowsin’ Dan. Here’s Heavy’s 5 FastFacts on the murderer and his family:

https://heavy.com/news/anderson-lee-aldrich/

Unless something comes out where he’s a DezNat type it’s hard to place him into an ideological box. You’ve got parental porn actors, a methhead dad, a MAGAt grandpa, a single mom, the murderer being bullied online when he was younger, and who knows what with regard to his time spent online. Even his nonbinary claim could be a clue as to why he shot up the club. Mass shooter often target places they themselves frequent or are familiar with.

Anyway. Obvs speculation - but I wouldn’t doubt this act is personal and something went down online between the murderer and someone affiliated with the club to whatever extent. The murderer, feeling rejected or bullied, takes it out on the club because he knows there’s an event and it’ll be full.

- Doc
Heavy has got good and detailed coverage of the incident. Here's a clip of him being arrested for the bomb threat in 2021. Huge guy.
