The regional differences in before-tax gasoline prices are pretty stunning. I'm guessing the difference is transportation costs.
Yes of course, another aspect of Capitalism.
Yep. All other things being equal, if it costs more to supply me with gasoline than it does to supply you, my gasoline price is going to be higher than yours.

At least Biden has allowed Exxon to go into Venezuela to drill and refine oil. So far I haven't heard any complaints from Gunnar's wing of the democratic party about that. Maybe that will help keep prices down once the Strategic petroleum (political) reserve runs out.

Perhaps Democrats have been spooked enough by this would be Red Wave that they've abandoned the campaign line of, "Nobody owes you cheap gas." It took more time and money to find enough mail in ballots to put them over the finish line than they would have preferred.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Thank heavens the Republican Party was 100% sincere in its expressions of alarm over the toll rising fuel prices were taking on every day Americans. The willingness of Republicans to put aside petty political attacks in order to do whatever was necessary to bring relief to the American people from the oppression of high fuel prices. This bill introduced by that defender of the American everyman, Marco Rubio, is an admirable example of the selfless dedication or Republican Patriot Politicians to freeing the American People of the oppressive yoke of high fuel prices. https://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/_ca ... s22229.pdf

I will forever curse the Demonrat party that did everything it could to prevent our Dear Leader, President Donald Trump, from keeping gasoline prices low by frustrating his efforts to buy oil from Iran and Venezuela (which has huuuuuge oil reserves).

Let us all take a further moment to express gratitude for the Republican support of the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Act which put in place provisions to prevent price gouging consumer fuel during energy emergencies. It also made it to where fuel price manipulation through things like reducing refinery capacity could be investigated by the FTC.

Basically, a piece of legislation tailored to prevent artificially high gas prices. Naturally, since Democrats want the highest gas prices possible, and Republicans want the lowest gas prices possible, we know who voted for, and who opposed this one.

*checking notes*

Whoops, not a single Republican voted for it. My bad.

Given that Democrats are such champions of civil rights, one has to wonder why the president refuses to comment on the Chinese communist dictatorships crackdown on peaceful protests and zero COVID policy with lockdowns more ineffective and draconian than Fauci ever dreamed of. You'd think the only civil rights the Democrats care at all about are those of black criminals who get themselves into deadly fights with white cops. Tiennamen square, Hong Kong, children welded into apartments that get burnt down, actual slavery in the year 2022 of Uyghur Muslims? That's no problem as long as China makes a promise to reduce CO2 emissions in 2050 and the liberal elite like LeBron James maintain access to the Chinese market.

November 28, 2022 White House Press Briefing

ETA: For fun, here are some leftist marxist socialist mainstream media takes:
ABC News -- White House criticizes China COVID policy...
Politico -- Biden administration reacts with caution to China protests
NY Times -- White House Weighs How Forcefully to Support Protesters in China

And from the former patriot freedom truth lovers, who now oppose Trump, so they are obviously failing loser fake news, but also not:
NY Post - White House offers mere mush on China’s protests

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...

The dumbing-down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.”
