There's only one conclusion .... LDS leaders kick a$$!
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

Rarely true, of course, even in other denominations. But extremely unlikely in the case of Latter-day Saints, who have no paid clergy.
Meanwhile the top clergy of the LDS church receive a $189,000 (taxed as income) “living stipend” every year. An estimated $34,000,000.00 total across all of the elite church leaders.

Just don’t call them paid clergy!

I think DCP may be depending on a definition of GAs that excludes them from the category of "paid clergy". He's not denying that GAs are paid only that they are not paid to be "clergy".

I wonder who DCP defines as LDS “clergy”. The SLC LDS Church certainly does have a paid clergy - senior leadership cohort. It is such a well known fact, to the extent we’ve seen an actual pay slip, that it’s now unarguable except if one wants to come across as a “lie at all costs” Trump-type denialist. Maybe DCP is making the case that the Apostles are not the set apart leaders of the Church, but I doubt it. Given that they are set apart as full time for life Apostles, you cannot make the case that they are paid for something other than being a Church leader. I think this is another example of DCP’s willingness to turn to dishonesty in what he does and says. Perhaps he will lay out his reasoning in more detail, but I doubt he will want to look like a deceitful chump.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Even the Church acknowledges that they operate a paid clergy.
General Authorities leave their careers when they are called into full time Church service. When they do so, they are given a living allowance which enables them to focus all of their time on serving in the Church. This practice allows for far more church members on a worldwide basis to be considered for a calling to serve as a General Authority, rather than limiting considerations to only those who may be financially independent. The living allowance is uniform for all General Authorities.
The living allowance is made up of a salary that they call a stipend, and all other expenses, including the buying of presents for children etc. As a remuneration package it will afford a comfortable way of life above and beyond that which moist* members can enjoy.

*should be “most”

Given that the Church has confirmed that it has a paid clergy, why is Peterson going to such great lengths to try and portray all that remuneration as something other than "being paid"? It's as of he's got something to hide...

Yeah, but is it above and beyond that which dry members can enjoy?

Remember, all of Peterson's analyses comes from the information of non- Mormon or Mormon critics which he feels necessary to answer, even if very convoluted. Because, well, it's an answer, and that's all that's needed. It doesn't have to make sense of any sort, nor be aligned with doctrine or the brethren's views. There just needs to be an answer, and that is Dr. Peterson's life's mission.
