If you say so. I think the desire to defend the church at all costs isn't a healthy one. You can call a spade a spade on this one.

And he still hasn’t read the entire order - although he did skim it until para 13 so he could pull a tidbit out of context in order to shill for his cult.

Wow. I wondered how this could possibly be spun, here's how. A believer from reddit
Wow. Just... unbelievable. When principles come in conflict a choice needs to be made because either way you go there are undesirable consequences.
The choice here was to keep the money made in stocks as confidential as possible at the expense of violating an SEC rule. They paid the fine and hopefully it is done.
Sometimes the truth isn't very helpful. See Genesis 20:1-18, Abraham 2:21-25

Sometimes a sense of nuance and flexibility can lead towards a greater truth(s)Marcus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 1:02 amWow. I wondered how this could possibly be spun, here's how. On the other hand brittleness and inflexibility can lead to very limited outcomes/reasoning.

Oh, really? Why don’t you point us to the order’s paragraph you feel bolsters your argument?MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 1:06 amYou lie again. Have you no shame?Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 1:01 am

You can say the same thing of human sacrifices to volcanoes. You could say the same thing of kidnapping victims experience extreme Stockholm syndrome. If the person has a testimony that the volcano needs to feed on them then it's okay in your world.MG wrote:It depends. If these young families (and other folks) have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel and that the tithe brings blessings both to themselves and the church I don’t think there is much danger in them leaving the church. On the other hand, if they are cultural Mormons then you might have a point.
As I said earlier, another ‘wheat and chaff’ episode.

MG
Whether it's right or wrong of the Church is a deeper question than if it's merely okay with the parishioners -- whether the parishioners believe that God has spoken.
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

The Warren Jeffs compound raid was also a real "wheat and chaff episode."
Only the true believers and koolaid drinkers are still strong in the church. Surely they'll be blessed.
