Hannah Stoddard and the Joseph Smith Foundation

Post by drumdude »

From what I’ve gathered, she has some pretty bold claims:

1) Joseph wasn’t a treasure digger
2) Joseph wasn’t dabbling in the occult or magic
3) Joseph didn’t use a seer stone to translate the Book of Mormon
4) Joseph’s plural wives were not victims but were heroines

Ect ect.

It seems she’s on a crusade to erase every potentially negative aspect of Joseph Smith by rewriting the entire believing and non-believing scholarly consensus about early church history.

Pffft. Her arguments are stupid. I have made a few response videos SHOWING her the evidence that she hasn't a leg to stand on. Their arguments have no power whatever.

I wonder if DCP and other members of the orthodox mafia see her as a threat. Because she makes additional claims like “if Joseph was a treasure digger, the church isn’t true.” Or “if Joseph did use a seer stone, the church isn’t true.”

Do you think she’s just pandering to the ultra conservative Mormon base?

There must be some reason she is denying the obvious. Maybe she believes members can be fooled ad infinitum as long as someone makes an outrageous claim.

Well, that would be right in line with the Mormonism she believes in... :D

Carah Burrell has a live podcast refuting the outrageous claims of Hannah Stoddard. Hannah approaches LDS claims from a lying for the Lord point of view. Sort of QAnon-type Mormonism. Ultimately this will backfire for members who read LDS history.

My favorite part is when Hannah argues with Kwaku over whether Joseph Smith used his seer stone to dig for treasure.

That was rather startling! Carah crucified Hannah.

Look how much effort it takes Carrah just to debunk some, not all, of Hannah’s claims.

But we now live in an age where people like Hannah can grow a following spouting claim after claim, even publishing books, knowing full well that no one will ever be able to convince their true believing followers that they’re being duped.

It’s really sad. And I hope people like DCP have trouble sleeping at night for their part in creating this toxic world of misinformation.
