The only reason the constitution is hanging by a thread is because of Trump and other dishonest hardcore rightwing extremists and bigots like him who hate the rule of law whenever it inconveniences them and whose overriding concern is maintaining and adding to their own wealth and power, no matter whom they have to hurt to achieve it.ajax18 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 12:15 amTrump isn't squeaky clean. I guess you're used to having one standard for Democrat politicians and one for Republican politicians because well, the ends justify the means.
I'm guessing that Democrats will just draw this verdict on Trump out. They won't convict him unless he gets to close to winning for their comfort. Or perhaps after this election the Democrat grip on power will be nearly as solid a Xi's grip on China that they can haul Trump off to the Jan 6 gulag just for the fun of it. It doesn't really matter if people on the right have lost faith in the justice system being nonpartisan at this point. They're in the minority in this country and we're in a post Constitutional America. The Constitution hangs by a thread, just as the prophets said it would in the last days.
If a democrat or self-identified liberal were guilty of the same crimes Trump has been indicted for, I would be every bit as opposed to them as I am to Trump. It has been my observation that, unlike most Republicans, Democrats are very nearly as quick to condemn their own who break the law as they are to accuse Republicans who are guilty of it. The Republicans' claim that Democrats would falsely accuse their political opponents of violating the law to gain political advantage is mere projection on their part. They have all but openly admitted their willingness to do just that themselves, whenever they can get away with it.
