Well I’m not sure I have a clear handle on how time works in the eternities. But as I understand the teaching of it in Mormonism, eternity is infinite time. So if time is infinite, time is irrelevant. If I don’t do something “today” I still have an infinite amount time left in which to do it. It’s rendered meaningless on the basis there’s an infinite amount of it.
And an infinite atonement makes hash of all the limitations placed upon anyone in a judgment. It is what Mormons and their leaders just have not given enough thought to. Irrelevant if there is a telestial, terrestrial or celestial, ALL limitations is overcome by infinite, so the theology is based on ego, not reality. Of course, I have my suspicions of the infinite as well, but it is their Mormon doctrine out of the Book of Mormon, so I intend on making them think through it all.
Philo, I find myself puzzled by your confidence in what infinite atonement is supposed to mean. I found the phrase a bit odd so asking google I find LDS sources for the idea. Lds sources have not been on my reading list for a long time so that might be why infinite atonement sound uncertain. Do Book of Mormon sources explain a meaning beyond rejecting Calvinist limited atonement? (hot issue of the time)

In that 19th century context one might expect meaning to be it can reach everybody without guaranteeing every body accepts it. Or variation, everybody gets covered. That sounds what you are thinking of. I am not sure there is any way to be sure of such a thing but one might hope.

Yes, regardless of who does what whether god or man, an infinite will cover all issues, all short-comings, all myopias, all sins, all problems, all shortenings, it would be irrelevant what issues have shown up or what actions have occurred on earth if the infinite atonement is real, it will all be taken care of, whether one chooses to believe or not, to support or fight it is irrelevant, the infinite will make up for it all, including any short comings to godhood. In my take on it, that means everyone gets what god actually wants anyway regardless of what is done here on earth. There is nothing left out, nothing short, nothing missing with the infinite. Therefore, ALL things actually, as the scriptures say, SHALL BE ONE. That means according to this doctrine, even the devil and his worshippers will be in the highest of the highest kingdom of heaven even with the 2nd and 3rd and 4th anointed special chosen ones. No one CAN be left out with the infinite covering all bases.
