I think that ends the debate about the legitimacy of the video in the Op. I suppose the question now becomes why did the Church omit it from the report of his visit to Belgium?Question: So does God have multiple wives?
Even Oaks, the 92-year-old apostle next in line to lead the global church, isn’t sure.
“We know that we are children of Heavenly Parents,” he says in a video from his appearance in Belgium. “So we know that we have a Heavenly Mother or Mothers.”
Oaks confirms we have heavenly mothers.

More reports of what Oaks said.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

I am curious as to why there was so much insistence that it was an AI video. Is it embarrassing? Does it further the separation from mainstream Christianity?I Have Questions wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 1:14 pmMore reports of what Oaks said.I think that ends the debate about the legitimacy of the video in the Op. If they can believe it is an AI video then they don’t have to deal with what Oaks said. Now that it’s shown it isn’t AI they will fully support the notion of plural Heavenly Mothers as if it’s been that way all along.Rivendale wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 2:48 pmI am curious as to why there was so much insistence that it was an A.I. video. It reminds me of the Jacob Hansen's gaffe when he said that it would be damning if Joseph wrote a paragraph relating to the papyrus. Dan Vogel pointed out it was Joseph's handwriting and he simply pulled his video deleted that part but kept the same conclusion.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 3:46 pmIf they can believe it is an A.I. video then they don’t have to deal with what Oaks said. Yep. People like Hansen will say anything. He has no integrity. Zero intellectual honesty.Rivendale wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 4:10 pmIt reminds me of the Jacob Hansen's gaffe when he said that it would be damning if Joseph wrote a paragraph relating to the papyrus. Apparently Oaks made the Heavenly Mothers speech more than once.
in the instagram comments at LDSChangemakers someone shared he spoke to a group of YW last year in Arizona and he made the same mention of Heavenly Mother or MothERS. So it seems like it’s more than just a slip up and he has purposely made a pattern of mentioning it.

When, oh when, will misogynist Elohim let the names of our heavenly mothers be known?Rivendale wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 6:42 pmApparently Oaks made the Heavenly Mothers speech more than once.

Those Apostles are prone to recycling talks. I’m reasonably sure they don’t actually write them themselves anymore, but have underlings draft stuff up, trawl through and cut and paste from their old material. Which they then review into a final draft. I believe an old time poster here “runtu” was actually involved in doing that type of thing at one point.Rivendale wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 6:42 pmApparently Oaks made the Heavenly Mothers speech more than once.in the instagram comments at LDSChangemakers someone shared he spoke to a group of YW last year in Arizona and he made the same mention of Heavenly Mother or MothERS. Looking at the condition of Oaks in those videos, it’s hard to see him slogging through careful research and scripting up a whole new talk. He’s about to turn 93. He’s just not able for it. Even if Nelson died tomorrow, Oaks isn’t capable of functioning properly as a Church President, and his tenure would be mercifully short.
In fact all three of the First Presidency are now in their 90’s. Can you think of any other corporation handling hundreds of billions of dollars where the key decision making board consisted of 3 people in their nineties? In terms of succession they’ve not really planned it well, as in a short space of time the Church will have an inexperienced President with two inexperienced counsellors. I suppose Dieter could step in again, but they canned him last time for being too popular.
