Didn't Midgley claim to attack a classmate who then years later was strong in the church due to the attack? You'll need to remind me who were candidates for said choking, but wouldn't this not only include enemies, but other members of the church? Including high-ranking leaders like apostles? It's quite revealing that in another thread the apologist claim has come to light that the Lord used the priesthood ban as a kind of "force choke" against black church members that successfully stimulated harmony between black and white members.
Yes: Midgley boasted of punching a classmate in the stomach in order to "teach him a lesson." And you may be right that Midgley also went on to say that the victim of this punching later "turned his life around." As for other targets of a theoretical "Force choke"? Yes, I definitely think that the Mopologists would have had certain General Authorities in mind, such as Elder Mark E. Petersen, who, I believe, was antagonistic towards the LGT. I believe that Midgley said that they were waiting around for him "to die" so that they could publish their (stolen/plagiarized) ideas about the LGT. So, yeah: if only they had the Sith ability to Force-choke, or even Force lightning would have done the trick.

I find your alliance with John Dehlin disturbing, Elder Holland.

Does anyone remember Porkins, the X-wing pilot featured in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope?

Porkins (yes, George Lucas actually named the only fat guy in Star Wars, Porkins) was best known for participating in the attack on the first Death Star. During the trench run, his ship was heavily damaged by debris and laser fire. Despite warnings from fellow pilots to eject or pull up, Porkins insisted, "I can hold it!" right before his fighter explodes, making him an unnecessary casualty in the battle.

Like Porkins insisting he can "stay on target" right before exploding into space dust, the Afore stubbornly locks onto his ridiculous narratives despite taking heavy fire from historical facts and critics. In the end, both will be remembered for refusing to eject from a clearly burning ship, sacrificing everything for a mission that was doomed from the start. The Afore really is the Porkins of Mopologetics.

Wait, I also see the name Anubis. What does it mean? Is it a slave from Tatooine? Does he hold the priesthood?

Something in the OP strikes me as being incorrect. Our dear Professor Scratch claims that Dr. Peterson's motivations are entirely selfish, while Anakin at least thought of one other person's welfare: Padme. That does not reflect my experience at all. First, I think it is really, really difficult to read someone else's motives accurately. There are those extreme outliers, such as Donald Trump, who are so obviously selfish in most everything they do that one can be pretty secure in judging them as pathologically selfish. Even then, I sometimes wonder about the possibility of his slivers of humanity and concern for family members, or, at least, some of them.

I can tell you that DCP is concerned about others. I believe that he engages in apologetics partly because he is concerned for the well-being of other people. While I do acknowledge that no one's motives are completely pure--certainly mine are not--I do know that DCP is concerned about others in his apologetics. Were I to reach out to him today and earnestly ask for help with a question about the Gospel, he would make time to talk to me. He would give his time to help me work things out. I can't count that as a completely selfish thing to do. That would not be honest.

I think those are fair points, Reverend, and they gesture at some of the reasons why I think that Vader is a poor analog, whereas (e.g.) Jabba the Hutt and/or Boss Nass are perhaps better points of comparison. The latter character, for example, *did* ultimately come around decide to help the Jedi, despite his longstanding antipathy towards the Naboo. And did Jabba the Hutt help others? I don't know that we get to see clear examples, but he certain seemed to have a loyal retinue of people in his palace. That said, he most certainly demanded loyalty in return, as evidenced by the scene where he dumps the dancing woman down into the Rancor's pit after she defies him.

So, I guess in a sense you are reinforcing my main point, which is that, No, in fact, no one thinks that the Afore is anything like Darth Vader?

If that quote is indeed accurate, then I concede the point and admit I was wrong.

I cut and pasted the quotes from the IMSDb The web's largest movie script resource! STAR WARS EPISODE 3: REVENGE OF THE SITH SCRIPT. It's exactly how I remember it in the movie.

Dan doesn’t think these are high brow artistic creations. I think we should try a little harder to be more sophisticated.
