Oh for Pete sakes, that pic upthread of the F35 I think it is just reminded me of something. We had B2's flying overhead around here the other day. Now I know why. Hegseth was speaking at the USAF Academy. I wonder how much $ the administration spent of OUR money on that flyover. It's like it's nothing. Because to them it's worth every penny of OUR money to look like strong men and we are getting fleeced to the max on account of their over compensation.

In another win for fiscally conservative, uh, conservatives, the budget deficit for the year has hit the $2T milestone. I know that doesn't sound like a lot to our resident MAGA faithful because normally two is less than, say, 200. I assure you, though, that 2T is a lot more than 200B or even 2,000M. I realize I just threw a curveball at the MAGA faithful on this board by dropping a 2,000M, but at least I didn't drop a 200,000M on all y'all. That'll really fire up them dusty neurons.

Anyway. What a time to be alive. Never in my American life, and I'm still American by the way, would I ever have thought that conservatives would be so excited to pay astronomical prices and drive down the value of the US dollar! I guess what we really need right now is a ground invasion of Iran to secure the existence of Israel and cement America's total isolation from the globe, minus the central and south American countries we can still strongarm into doing business with our billionaires.

A recap of some of this week’s events:

Trumponomics is still struggling to do anything other than watch prices rise and see tariffs fail.
In March 2026, President Donald Trump touted the value of American beef, saying he wanted to make it easier for Americans to buy U.S.-made beef. But in recent months, his administration has clashed with ranches and farms extensively.

Beef prices in the U.S. have skyrocketed from an average of $4.47 per pound in August 2021 to $6.92 in August 2026.

The Trump administration has responded by drastically cutting tariffs on imported beef, allowing 300,000 metric tons — or 661 million pounds — into the U.S. It promises the beef will be sold at 25% below market prices.

That might seem reassuring next time you're at the grocery store, but for food inspection experts and American ranchers, this has been a worrying development.

And for voters in Nebraska, where the cattle industry was worth $11.43 billion in 2025, it could help sway a competitive House race to the left.

Why beef has gotten so expensive

For ranchers across the U.S., it has been a dry, difficult year.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 57% of American cattle are in locations with moderate or greater drought, a 27% year-over-year growth.

The total amount of cattle in the U.S. has been declining for decades, with 86 million heads of cattle at the start of 2026. That leaves ranchers with a difficult decision: Do they focus on increasing the size of their herd, or do they improve short-term profits by selling cattle?

America's constrained beef supply is complicated by the fact that the government is heavily pushing beef as a health food.

That's largely due to the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, spearheaded by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. On Jan. 11, 2026, the White House posted a photo of Kennedy on X with the caption "We are ending the war on protein."

Kennedy has extensively promoted beef, as well as beef tallow as a cooking fat. Doctors have raised concerns, saying that Kennedy is wrong about seed oils being dangerous and beef fat benign.

Aside from beating up on immigrants with the help of an agency better-funded than the military of most countries, the rest of the Trump Administration’s efforts seem to be stalling or failing. In response, Trump is increasingly abandoning his promises to instead concentrate on renaming things in his bid for immortality.

Not all of these attempts are successful. Trump’s most recent effort to insult and disparage Americans who aren’t on board with his renaming fetish has generated some pushback, predictably after Trump declared that Americans who don’t accept his attempts are ‘the enemy’.

If MAGA policies fail, Trump can always distract MAGA voters with some of that red meat that they crave, by trying to instigate a race war.

It should work. This is what MAGA voted for.

Hi, MAGA board members. Do you remember when you were mocking Joe Biden for his lack of mental acuity, and suggesting that a cabal of unelected officials were running the country?

Will you admit that Don Trump is mentally unwell, and should step down from the office of President?

President Donald Trump in Tennessee yesterday, telling his weirdos, “I could say the stupidest things and you’d clap.”

Huh. He finally told the truth. 🤷‍♂️
