It's in the OP. 65% of Mormons say empathy isn't foundational. 100% - 65% = 35%.MG wrote:I may have missed the source on this. Would you mind reposting it?

And it is that attitude that results in the polarization that is running rampant in society. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2026 9:33 amI am unafraid of who I am. Religious people, conversely, are scared to death of who they are... and they should be. They signed up to suck.

OK.
I think my point has been made earlier. I'll leave it at that unless I see a need to comment further.

I'd ask you to explain the correlation, but I know it's a waste of time.MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2026 3:10 pmAnd it is that attitude that results in the polarization that is running rampant in society. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2026 9:33 am

It's not religion critics who are demanding everyone honor their imagination. That would be the god farmers.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.
The god idea is popular with desperate people.

Re: Jesus and the Bible encourage sociopathology
I found it interesting that the religious demographic that polled the highest for seeing empathy as foundational, was the religiously unaffiliated group. Being part of an organised religion reduces the level of importance a person places on empathy. Let that sink in. And LDS polled below the average of all Americans. And those that leave an organised religion but retain religiosity, experience and increase in how they see the importance of empathy. I guess that’s why Jesus advocated away from institutional religion and preached a more generic and personal way of being religious. If Jesus were alive today he wouldn’t join any particular religious sect, and for good reason.
Another highlight from the poll was that nearly 40% of Latter Day Saints agree with the immigrant internment camps. And nearly 40% of LDS think that America has become too soft and feminine.
