Hell? Good heavens, no! I was thinking more along the lines of the terrestrial kingdom, where your institution’s teaching has led me to understand will be filled with honorable people, certainly, but unwilling to give quite everything the Lord required. Still, the glory of the moon is nothing to sneeze at.
Here’s the thing, by failing to serve a senior mission, he will be ensuring that he only attains a lesser kingdom in the eternities. And it will be the same kingdom that we are allocated. The eternal schadenfreude will be delicious.
Baptism is the requirement to enter the lower degrees in the Celestial Kingdom. One must perform the Senior Mission to get to the highest degree within the Celestial Kingdom. So, MG can still wave at us people down below.

You may look wistfully to the higher kingdoms, as we do here, but the hell on the other side will be felt in some such way. This will be a torment to you, and in that sense it will be hell.
I am grateful for the Apostle Paul's admonition that we should work out our own salvation. Our works, our thoughts, our faith, etc., are strictly between us and our Heavenly Father.
Thank God that you and others on this board are not the final judges of my life...or any other. There is only ONE judge.
Should I judge and/or condemn you? No, and I will not. Your own faith and it's results are yours and only yours. Your standing before the Lord is between you and Him.
This is curious. Mentalgymnast made this statement here on this forum, a statement that is obviously not true, as he regularly judges and condemns others on this forum.
Why would he assume that what HE says HE will or won't do should apply "both ways"??? That's bizarre.

Perception...and resulting judgement...is an interesting characteristic/function of human beings, isn't it? Can't really get away from it.

I couldn’t agree more with the idea that one’s eternal standing is between an individual and the Lord, and I certainly wouldn’t presume to judge it.
While I wholeheartedly agree with Paul, it is evident that Mormon teachers may have a differing opinion concerning those honorable people who decline to give quite everything the Lord requires.
Joseph Fielding Smith: “Of course, those who enter the telestial kingdom, and those who enter the terrestrial kingdom will have the eternal punishment which will come to them in knowing that they might, if they had kept the commandments of the Lord, have returned to his presence as his sons and his daughters. This will be a torment to them, and in that sense it will be hell.”
John A. Widtsoe: “Those who dwell in the lower may look wistfully to the higher as we do here. The hell on the other side will be felt in some such way.”
